    Hi Jyothy,

You have not mentioned what class your daughter is studying now. I guess, now she must be in Playgroup/ N1. If you are looking out for Indian International schools nearby GIIS, ( tampines) campus is the closest one. DPS is in Kovan- it is again far away from your place.

And if it is for Primary one (local school) - the admissions for the next year intake is already over. Please go to the nearest school to check out for vacancies.

    Hi again Uthra,

Yes, now we have lots of active Sing'lites & many changes are happening in our site. If possible, you too try stay in touch.

Then, regarding PAP schools- If the near by school has mother tongue you can very well consider this option. Two of my friend's children, which I had mentioned earlier, they studied only in PAP school but now they got primary one admission in a very good school. Therefore, in a kindergarten level it does not matter where you study. The local crowd gives importance to secondary school (not even primary school) so; you can keep it as your next choice.

And usually the church affiliated schools & the other Montessori schools have many enrichment Programmes that’s the reason people go for it.

    Well, bye for now.
    Keep posting

    Re: Singapore Schools

Hi there, I am new to IL and this is my first post. I am currently based in Delhi. My husband has recently relocated to Singapore and we (me and my two sons age 10 yrs and 7 months) will be coming there soon.

I've read a few posts here about local schools and have few questions.

    1. Aren't there any govt schools which teach Hindi language?
    2. If not, where do children have to go on Saturdays to learn Hindi?

GIIS is an easy option as it'll have the same syllabus as my son is currently doing but it'll be very expensive. And for what I've read, the local govt schools aren't bad and won't compromise on the quality of education.

Since my husband is not on a time-bound posting, we don't intend to come back to India soon - so are ok to switch my son over to Singapore education system. however, he doesn't understand Tamil, Malay or Chinese - will this be a problem if he goes to local school? Are there Indian students in almost all primary schools or is there a concentration in some areas/school?

Sorry for such a long post but I have so many queries which I wanted to clarify.

    Thanks, Monika

    :coffeeDear Uthra

    Hello.

Regarding to your query abt the PAP school. Most of the time it varies from branch to branch.

Some of them are quite good and covers the all topics according to the class. But some of them are very bad. In 3hrs session , they will make them sit infront of T.V to watch cartoons for 1hr at times.:cheers
If you on EP they will ask you to pay double of what the singaporens pay. Then any Church school is better option in that case becz there we need not to pay double fee and it is worthpaying too..
i can see the difference in the learning of my two daughters.

Anyway what ever choice you make. have to teach them alot at :coffee:coffeehomebecz the syllabus is veryless for kindengardens and they expect a lot in primary.

    Bye

    Re: Singapore Schools

So friend, first choose a govt school near to your place. then, inquire about the mother tongue facilities. Indian students are scattered we cannot find many at one place. All the best. Hope I answered all your questions.
