How Often Do You Communicate With Your Sibling

Weekly WhatsApp video calls to see the kids, and messages at least a few times a week in between. I haven’t been to India in years, though.

 

Dear OP,

My kids communicate with their cousins (siblings' children) a couple of times a day ( I mean as and when they feel like talking) through messenger or whatsapp. They share voice notes and texts beside video calls.
During such conversations, we siblings will involve at least couple of times a day and talk. Sometimes lengthy talks and sometimes just hi-bye type. But, we have a family whatsapp group where everyone is in the loop of everything that happens within our family.

My H and his siblings do not share a close bond as ours; hence they talk only during special days. Such as birthdays, diwali or holidays, but the family whatsapp group will be the place to share pictures and details of special events/information between siblings.
Apart from that, they call each other once in a couple of months.

 

Most of them are on Facebook and WhatsApp. Their posts on Facebook give an idea about their welfare. Because of time zone issues, it may not be possible to talk frequently. We have WhatsApp groups with family members and other friends.
The most important thing is whether will we help each other in times of need. It is one thing to chatter and another to be helpful. I prefer the latter.

 

Yes, Family whatsapp groups keep us updated... if there is a success or good days or good times, if possible we call, else it is through messages !
Most of us know each others time and work schedules (although not detailed) so we know who can talk at what time...

But definitely, in times of need, I have different people to call to share different aspects or questions on life! At that time, we just call - and start the topic right away ! Once the topic of need is addressed, we continue to discuss other things

If I need to make a decision on something or just worried about something, I call and discuss!
The same with them too - if any of the siblings or in-laws or cousins are worried about a kid or studies or job or anything, they call me without any hesitation...

When we do talk on phone, it is for an hour at least!

There were times when we used to be careful about the duration of the telephone talk because it cost money. Now thanks to Whatsapp and Facebook messenger we can talk for hours with a WiFi connection.

I talk to my sister's twice everyday.
Even though we have nothing much to talk about, we still talk.

 

I have not been in talking terms for the past 5 years and even before that the relationship was extremely strained with my brother. The reasons are too many to list and way too personal as well. The invitation for our Grahapravesam has gone to all my relatives except my brother’s family.

My mother also used to talk to her eldest sister every single day. My mother is the youngest and there are 3 siblings in between, but my mom barely speaks to the rest of them. Till the day my periamma passed away they would call each other daily even if just for a minute.
