WHAT IF WE HAD NO NAMES?

I was just wondering. Why do we have names? What if we had no names? Look at animals. They recognize each other by smell or growling or face or things like that. We gave them names at our sweet will-lion, tiger, leopard, elephant, and monkey, Similarly, we named the trees, birds, mountains, and rivers, and the list is long.

Even as toddlers when we had not learned to speak we talked to each other in that peculiar voice. Even we felt no need for words. We recognized each other as animals do. We talked to each other as animals do. We are either he or she or maybe in between. We can recognize each other by face when in person or voice.

Are we more human because we have names and we know to speak in one or the other language? Would we be lesser in any sense? The names we carry were given to us by our parents or elders. They did not realize that names could create confusion. A lot of persons have the same names and even surnames. Some names do not mean anything. Some names are simply ornamental. Some names are just awful. Those who carry such names wish they had no names at all.

And then we named our Gods and religion. Our names define our religion and caste, the root cause of all disputes and divides.

Why humans only needed names? It is one thing to put the animals, birds, trees, etc to help us put them in groups and recognize but it is so awful to put them in religion or caste groups.

Not only humans but even dogs have names, as do domestic catas. And they know their names. I should know. I have five dogs and 11 cats at home. But when it comes to humans , names are divisive. They create caste, gender and religious divides. Since we can't recognize by smell why not give people numbers or some kid of a code that is beyond caste, religion or status instead of names?

Names are no names or by any other name - Rose is A rose.
Prisoners behind gaol are assigned number names. Porters in rail roads in India are assigned number names
Which they display tied on to their rear arm.
Amitabh Bachchan wore the porter's badge number 786 in the film Coolie. In an other film too this is his coolie number . Is it dewar?
I suggest to Almighty to create new babies with number on their scalp. Like in movie OMEN .for devils 666 and holy ones 777.
I remember in 1975 I used to have communication with a freight forwarder in NY. He used send me bunch of freight Bill's signed by him as Z.B. ZERO. when I happened to ask him the reason he responded that the moment he was delivered the first person his mother had seen was one to be a Dr Zero - the chief of hospital a d it was their custom to name the child with the name of the first person the delivered mother see first. He shared me numerous anecdotes involving zero.
But the I shudder to imagine a nation where people without names
    Regards.

Good to know you have five dogs and 11 cats and I am sure named by you and your family o maybe by previous owners. Dogs and cats do not name them. Male dogs and cats do not care anyway.
Yes giving a code number is a good idea. It did not occur to me. With almost 8 billion
people on the planet now and increasing, we may have to add some prefixes or suffixes like car numbers.
