Viji Sweetheart, thank you for the nominations. Like the nominated members often say, a nomination by you is a win in itself. Hope to see more from you soon.

    The End Verses New Beginning
As we near the calendar year's end, it's a good time to ponder on the key ingredients of life. Ratna summarizes this quite well:
Key ingredients to live your life whole heartedly is your smile, happiness, peacefulness, kindness and being a great human.
    Snippet by @HariLakhera
    Teeth To Tirthas
As always, many thoughts are provoked in the mind on reading Hari ji's snippet. Many discussion and debate-worthy points in the snippet, however no one can argue with this fact:
Nothing that we accumulated will go with us. The most loved ones will also return after the funeral.

Thank you Laks for nominating this response by @Thoughtful
    Son Pressing All My Buttons

At the start of the pandemic, I came close to praying seriously. In the prayer, there was a special mention for people with very young children and a double special mention for working moms of these children. @Thoughtful has given solid suggestions for the discipline and behavior issues outlined there. The points that stood out were minima screen time as a family, no junk food and above all: putting everything else on hold until this is figured out. Caught up in the to-do lists of daily life, it can be hard to focus on challenges like bringing about behavior change in a child. All dispensable activities have to be put on hold to attend to big parenting challenges.

    Personality Changes
Ratna has given a succinct list of things to do and keep an eye on while trying to improve and sort out one's personality changes. She has touched upon food, exercise, the mind and then:
whomever you consult ultimately it's you who has to stand for your self, and I strongly believe you are much...much... Capable person. Its just matter of time you will overcome this phase.

Thyagu @Thyagarajan it's a good thing you brought this response by @DDream to FP. I had missed reading it. Though my days of parenting very young kids are past, I like to read the posts for some reason.. Sometimes I give myself a retrospective 10/10 and often I am happy with a 8 or 9/10 too when grading my parenting performance. : )

Response by @DDream in Son Pressing All My Buttons

Many powerful suggestions in DDream's response. To be firm and loving at the same time is a huge challenge. These tips from the post are invaluable:
".. give a hug and tell him you love him so much but can't accept this bad behavior"
".. So he should understand that your problem is with his tantrums and not him"

and many more in the post. Parenting is challenging, no two ways about that. Responses like DDream's give us hope, confidence and energy to go a little deeper into our reserves of patience.

Thank you for all the nominations, Viswa. You have selected a wide variety and I am learning a lot as I read them. I have to keep reminding myself that I have to also write in FP thread, the threads are so mesmerizing.
What a question in the title and what a follow-up in the snippet filled with examples from mythology and history!

    Destiny - Is It Inviolable?

It led to thoughtful responses by many as they shared their interpretation of destiny. Lovely. I can only add a tiny bit with this quote:
"Your destiny and the work God gave to you to work here on earth, is bigger than you and that's why we need to always be in tune with Him. " ~ Bolanie Saliu,

Yes, we do. I always find myself thinking that DDream's responses are worthy of putting on my fridge. From this particular response, I would benefit from sticking this part at eye level so I can see them each time I open my fridge:
But, our power lies in our ability to be calm and assertive as we only can control our responses and behavior. Getting angry is easy, but it will remove the focus from the problem. So, others will notice only our anger and not the point we like to convey. ... You need to cool down and be the better judge of your behavior. If you loose your control walk away or postpone response. That way you can get rid of lot of head ache. Talk only when you can do that in a composed tone.
An extremely well-thought-out response by DDream. She has taken possible causes and examined which might be the cause of the undesirable changes in personality, and how to slowly modify things back to the state one wishes. All while also reminding us that "change is part of our life journey."

    Post by @Vidiyal:
Split The Family Or Bury My Passion

That difference between men and women is often true. Taking a random example, if the child needs help with a school project, the mom's thought will naturally be, "how can I help the child, how can I make the time, which meeting is ok to miss, what personal me-time can I postpone?". The man's response might be, "can I help, I have meetings all day, even till 7pm the day before thanksgiving, hmm when can I help.. the cricket or soccer match is at this time, so let me see ... " : )

Thank you for bringing this post to FP, Viswa. I've often wondered what OP there decided.

    Post by @dattaswami :
    How To Overcome Worry

I have read many proverbs, quotes and inspirational articles about the futility of worrying. There's even a song by Tim Stafford that says:
    "Worry's Like a Rockin' Chair
    It won't get you anywhere
Back and forth, but you're still there
    Worry's Like a Rockin' Chair
    "

But the age-old wasteful habit of worrying has been examined in a unique manner by @dattaswami. I found this simple part of the analysis most appealing -- what is spent is spent, gone, and not coming back.

Your loss may be compensated by million times in the future
But even one second of your lost time can never be compensated

    ..
You may be compensated regarding your loss in course of time. Thus you may recover the loss but the time you spent in worry can never be compensated. Since your lifetime is a fixed quantum, the loss of time cannot be compensated.
Thank you Viswa for nominating this post. We don't often see nominations from the Religion & Spirituality section and this post definitely deserves wider notice by readers.

    @Rihana

I am here to nominate @Caide's thread My Life Before And After With Pets. What a lovely thread this is even though I was late to read it. Definitely, the pets can change someone's life from sadness to happiness in no time. It is unfortunate, she lost Juno but kept her hopes alive and became an active parent looking after Junie and Ginger. The calming effect they have on human beings is not explainable in words unless one experiences it.

Human relationships are complex and I fail to understand how a whole family didn't understand the emotions of the youngest child. But the pets' love is unconditional and that is what made the difference in her life, I guess. There are so much to learn from the pets.
