All the shops are already filled with holiday and Christmas chocolate boxes. Also, today is Halloween and we are handing out candy to trick or treat’ing kids. So, it is a good time to again tell my kids that growing up we didn’t celebrate birthdays : ) and only got chocolates on Independence Day and Children’s Day at school. If that fell on a Sunday, too bad. : ) Talking of children, these are two of my favorite funny quotes: "You can learn many things from children. How much patience you have, for instance." – Franklin P. Jones "The quickest way for a parent to get a child’s attention is to sit down and look comfortable." -Lane Olinghouse Happy November, folks! Hope yours is filled with child-like wonder and appreciation for life’s blessings and for IL’s finest posts. Looking forward to your nominations. .
Rihana, Happy November! Costco has so much Christmas decor that I had to move away from the area to prevent the cash drain! Talking about finances, @hrastro has written a wonderful post about money management. Look her budget planning details here - House Budget She goes in-depth and gives step by step instructions to compute expenses and plan accordingly. This is extremely helpful not only for the OP but the rest of the readers. She also has broken the post down into points to keep things helpful. I’d like to thank hrastro for the post and also nominate her for FP. I think many would benefit from this.
Rihana, After kids, our lives revolve around them. Having babies is a life changing experience after all! @Sweety2016 has written a heartfelt post here - Parental Support During Child Birth and shares a glimpse of some of the lesser spoken facts about having a baby. Especially the postpartum hormone part. You can see how hard it is for a new mom to handle the physical and emotional toll of childbirth. We seldom talk about these things. Moms are supposed to be happy and well adjusted and glowing after. These nitty gritty details are often not imparted. I’d like to normalize what new moms go through post baby. I want to normalize that overwhelming feeling after a new human comes into the family. I would also like to let Sweety know that it is completely ok and not to feel guilty for having these feelings. And of course, nominate her for FP.
@ddrems response In thread Son Pressing All My Buttons by way of pragmatic suggestions in taming the adamant crying boy is a solid prescription from a psychologist . This be considered as FP for Nov 22 .
@Rihana - Who Am I? is a hilarious take on the existential question in our current day tech scenario. I enjoyed reading it and also identified with so much. I can never remember any password. I have last pass and have forgotten that password many times. What about the million things we have to do to login to the bank and conduct a transaction? We need a password and another high security password and then an OTP that comes on the phone. Absolutely! I would love to nominate @jayasala42 for her hilarious take on who we really are!
@Rihana - Thoughtful has rightly said it in Son Pressing All My Buttons Parenting is hard. Being patient with ourselves first helps a lot! This is spot on. They reflect what they see not what they are told. Absolutely true. I did not know this until someone told me years later. Wish I had known this when my first child was younger. I’d love to nominate @Thoughtful for his thoughtful post on a parent’s worried thread.
