I am already doing what I love love doing! Creating an entire school curriculum (1st to 12th) and textbooks and workbooks for maths as maths is supposed to be taught - interesting, fun, mystery, adventure, case studies and concepts based, real life application and activity oriented with the beauty of language and poetry and art and music and dance and architecture included in mathematics! I have been working on this project for the past 1 year and will never get tired of it! The kids (I am only responsible to tell the teachers what/how to teach, but I do take substitute classes sometimes), whenever I login to the class, they say - here comes the magic tricks lady Keep smiling HR
I used to admire all the yesteryear Doordarshan newsreaders: Shobhana Ravi, Sandhya, Gitanjali Aiyer, Salma Sultan….I’m sure I’m missing a few.
Once during school summer vacation, mom got me a simple job of sitting in a class 10am to 4pm for a month in which different teachers under training were taking classes. The venue was the teachers training college a govt. Institution. The compensation was just ₹5 for the whole month. Whoever was teacher under training - taking class in different subjects, model pupils were encoraged to ask questions. As a pupil answering used to be difficult but questions were easy to ask and therefore naturally pupils were actively participating. After assessment of performance of every teacher, the latter was awarded marks that determines whether they get the grade to qualify for a teacher’s post in government schools. One view was the class that asked more questions to a particular teacher, the concerned teacher’s performance considered superior as in her or his method of teaching impelled the students to think and be inquisitive. Another view was that teacher concerned graded poor because the pupils were confused and asked too many questions. I enjoyed acting deliberately like a moron - dull student - asked too many funny yet tricky questions and enjoyed the month of attending this teachers’ training dilemma! One of the teachers later turned my instructor in a typewriting shorthand institute in the next summer! The lunch and munching with new class-friends boys-girls with free tea for all participants was the side attraction. Pl don't ask what was main attraction!
