@GPriya 's response in another thread is copied for benefit of followers of this thread in USA.
Quote (.)Thx Mr. Thyagarajan. It has been a while since I responded/posted any message in IL. I do read interesting posts frequently. BTW, there is no Jersey Milk availability anymore and I and my DH we still drink Filter coffee, but now Horizon Organic Vitamin D milk (whole Milk) and the coffee powder Kothas has no flavor nowadays, as the quality is not good anymore. So I buy 100% columbian coffee powder from super market and grind in the mixie to reduce the granule size to suit my coffee filter (not the traditional stainless steel filter) the brand is Brahmas coffee maker which makes perfect decoction just like stainless steel filter, but in just 10 minutes. Just FYI.
    Cheers,

I have tried normal way but it does filter so fast in the stainless steal filter. I remember before some relatives had used a small piece of cloth over the filter to get more concentration of the filtered coffee. This cloth is just like the cotton one which we use for idli making maybe slightly more thick. But I haven’t used the cloth as I have reduced intake of coffee in general and so rarely drink filter coffee nowadays.

Kutty- my keralite malayalee class mate would take measured quantity of milk- dilute it by adding water and after boiling it, he would filter it through double folded cotton cloth and then collect the filtered coffee in ss davra.
When in next visit I demonstrated coffee- decoction-extracting using my gift to him - ss filter- he went gaga. Later he claimed to be hero among his kith and kin as hero coffee maker. In my uncle's place in sonar bheedhi in Mysore too, they were using cotton cloth for extracting decoction! Coffee made with decoction extracted through cloth is less delicious. Long live ss filter.
    Regards.

I found I hv missed to state that Kutty was adding few teaspoonfuls coffee powder into the boiling milk and then transferred the hot mixture by and by into a double folded cotton cloth held firm over the brim of another small container. Kutty claimed This coffee so collected as his brand of filter coffee. He was throwing the coffee-waste in his garden that includes rose plants.

I miss filter coffee soooooo much. I've had to give up caffeine in all forms including tea, chocolate and coffee.

RIP my friend the filter coffee. You will always be in my thoughts and taste
