As I read through the book ( which I was not happy with from the first 50 chapters but things have changed since then ), I have started to internalize Aishwarya as Nandini and somewhat for Trisha as Kundavai. I think its hard to hate Trisha and like Kundavai, I might end up liking Trisha due to the way Kalki describes Kundavai.

Having said that, what a woman dominated book. Very hard to not admire Nandini, Kundavai and Poonguzazhi. Kalki said it then and Survivor TV series now proves it today, Women's social and mental skills triumps a men's physical and mental skills anyday.

I am starting to go along with the idea that Kalki's description of Nandini's looks in particular and Aishwarya's looks are not too far ( taking out the age factor ).

I have to admit, Mani's first choice of young Rekha was probably not too far. But, it seems to me that Rekha and Aishwarya have lot of similarities when I think about it.

Definitely read the book first if you are one of those who want to watch the movie. I am targeting at least half of the book so that I have enough ground on the first movie.

    So far, its terrific.

On the opening of the 1960 movie "Pscyho" its director Alfred Hitchcok comes on screen and requests the ending not be revealed as it will spoil the experience of the wannabe movie watcher.

Ever since both Journalists and fans have refrained from mentioning the ending. Even when you read a review today, it will be hard to find reviews with the ending ( there are always exceptions ). Fans have carried over this to other movies as well, much to the joy of fans like me who get the desired effect from a movie.

Cut across to the Journalists, fans in India who can't wait to tell the end. "Hey what a movie yaar, who knew xxx would be the killer". Really dude?

    Spoiler ahead!!

Still about one third into the book and I avoid most media events details and interviews not to encounter spoilers. I read about which actor has been cast as which character. Who knew that it would expose a key spoiler.

Why can't people leave it at, xxx is playing yyy. Why do they need to say xxx is playing yyy and zzz. Now when zzz shows up in the book, I tie the zzz and yyy characters and oh well, I know a whole lot more than what Kalki wanted me to know.

But Kalki has kept more up his sleeve. There are surprises coming out, but still a tad bit disappointed from what I have added up.

Okay, please don't say anything even if I am on the wrong track ( but I doubt it )!

Aishwarya has an amazing role and going by what Mani could make her do in Iruvar, I have high expectations from her.

Somehow Karthi, Jayam Ravi and Vikram all seem misfits.

Not able to imagine any of the current actors. Maybe MGR might have done a better job. I am sure if he had directed he would have played 4 or 5 roles.

May be we are not used to seeing the others in period films. Aish has Jodha Akbar to her credit. Irrespective of how she plastic she appears in all the promotions or her appearances in events she has done a good job with certain directors( Iruvar, Guru, Hum Dil de chuke sanam, Jodha Akbar etc).

    Any one planning for FDFS?

PS1 going on full promotion mode. I watched their press events in Bombay. Are the folks really journalists? Asking them to say a dialogue or fav Hindi movie. They do live in the same country not a different planet! And this Kapil sharma show I have no words. I have never watched it before. The one and only episode i watched was that of Kamal's recently and my thought immediately vis why KH why? And the new trailer again omg is that guy that great that he thinks he is so important and people are so wanting to get on his show. But atleast it's little better than koffee with Karan. What all people have to do to promote!

Ash's looks in all the events! It's so hard to believe it's the same stylist who styled Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sobitha who looked lovely

Haven't followed the events, but Trisha's looks in the movie leave a lot to be desired.

On the hindi audience, I wonder how much they will be able to feel connected to the movie. The story has to be stripped to bare bones and as simplified as bahubali for them to come on board. However the tamil audience will be on the other end where out of so much content, they will be seeing a much leaner version of the story. I feel like the same movie cannot be presented to tamil and hindi audience.

Also Ramya krishnan carried the acting part in baahubali. Unfortunately I think Aishwarya has to shoulder that burden as both from the acting and the casting, there is no other role or actor who can do that. Trisha definitely can't. Vikram definitely is the strongest actor, but I wonder if he is mis-cast as Adithya Karikalan. He should have perhaps been Vandhiyathevan.

Amala Paul and Nayan are definitely missed in this cast.

So are sivakumar, surya who could have played some powerful roles.

Read else where Amala Paul was approached may be for Aishwarya Lekshmi’s role? Surya could have been the raja raja chola. Vishal, Arya could have been the sons of other vassals. Anushka shetty would have been nice too. Also someone mentioned about Simran. If this was made in early 2000’s she would have been perfect Nandini too

Anyone planning to watch on IMAX?

I wonder if it is better to not watch this weekend and wait for feedback before deciding IMAX or not.

But curiosity is high. Just went past the half way mark on the book. I wonder how much the movie is going to cover and if it will religiously follow the book on sequence.
