    Hi,

    I have a weird question!
How do you serve the coffee to your guests?
Do you serve it in a coffee mug or a stainless steel glass like in India ?

I ask them if they are comfortable in a glass or if they prefer cups with handles.
Some are not comfortable holding steel glasses.
BUt downside is one person asked for the little katori also under the steel glasses which I dont have :D

:hello:Since April 1, 2015 you never chose to ask this weird question. I sense something unique that you ask now! Could it be a guest put you in predicament?

I understand that there are over 19 varieties of containers made from ss to mud pot to disposable to bone China to porcelain et al.

The container you choose to serve gust depends on wide variety of factors related to type of coffee and style and category of person rich or poor boss or servant or stranger etc.

Do you want serve filter coffee or kumbakonam degree coffee or Express or cold coffee?. It also depend on time!

A man from archeology arrived at my residence in mid morning. I served him filter coffee hot in tumbler made of gunmetal. My class mate called on with his young spouse. I served them in false bottom ss tumblers as they preferred only little coffee.
Our domestic maid and cook would prepare filter coffee/ nescafé and have coffee in disposable cup. I serve my spouse coffee in the morning in ss tumbler.

For travel I carry coffee decoction hot in thermoflask and warm milk in another flask to serve & delight companions. To a friend retired from army - whenever he is my guest, he is served in bone-China-flowery cup and saucer that their rims painted gold.
I had seen in marina beach at Chennai - coffee and other beverages served in coconut shells and mud pots.

Btw I must tell potential of coffee for human consumption discovered by a shepherd in Arabia while his cattle/goats were grazing. The goats eaten some green leaves with pods and began dancing wild and hop. Seeung this strange behaviour, He then collected the pod roasted a bit and ground it and drank in tepid hot water. He went wild waltzing.
    Thanks & Regards.

Interesting question and much like @Thyagarajan I wondered on the purpose behind the question. Is it only coffee or tea of any other beverage and few other questions :)

    Coffee mug or cup.
We ask guests if they want espresso, latte, cappuccino etc and serve them in the appropriate containers. I don’t serve filter coffee to guests unless they ask and even we drink it only in regular coffee cups. The davara-tumbler only gets used when my parents visit.

    :hello: @shreepriya
Welcome sister. Thank you for your clicking the like to my FB here.
Long back I remembered you desired to purchase a house property in
Near Thambu Chetty Palya Main Rd, opp. Koshy's Hospital, Kowdenahalli, Bengaluru but then there was discussion about waterlogging around this area during rains. But that was a decade ago. The conditions must hv changed now.
    Regards.

Frankly telling I have never done any of those except the instant coffee or filter coffee because I don’t drink it and hubby makes it for himself
So most of the times I forget to ask them about coffee :BangHead:

    Depends.
For friends and far relatives I go with ceramic cups .
and close family I go with steel Tumbler and Dawara (That katori) .
I like to serve frothy kaapi in steel tumbler and dawara and mostly it is filter kaapi only . No instant ones.

Once a neighbor visited us for a chit chat and I knew about his love for coffee. I made fresh decoction and gave him coffee in steel tumbler and katori , he asked for a second serving . Ha ha! He said coffee is not "Kaapi" if it is not served in steel Tumbler and Dawara. - Some serious kaapi lover he is.
