Yes. All the food competitions, the chefs give a lot of importance to plating. Should look appetising.etc

I still cannot get the idea of plating and all that. I love my food on a plantain leaf or a stainless steel plate.

Dal, sambar, rasam, vegetable palya/curry every home has their own way of cooking and the tadka smell.
Different varieties mom used to make with each veg.

Can female infanticide, less or no education to girl child and marrying them off at a tender age be some of the reasons.

Gender inequality in professions is evident everywhere, especially when it comes to high-end senior level career.
When it comes to cooking, being a master chef should be the target, as it is considered a professional height in that field. Even though women can cook, and know the art of making food, women do not pursue cooking as a career, because they know, like any other profession chances are less for women to land in the top high level. Being anywhere at the middle, as usual, isn't considered a best place when it comes to cooking career.
Like cooks at small eateries or home-made food stalls, apart from youtube channels.

Be it medicine to engineering to administrative services, talented women are nowhere equally promoted as their male counterpart.
Either they don't apply or don't get the chance to climb the ladder.

Speaking from Sri Lankan experience, I know the amount of girls completing graduation is outnumbered compared to the male counterparts, yet most of them comfortably end up in lower to middle level profession if at all they chose to work. But for men, the sky is their limit. They often end up being the toppers in their chosen career.

We have female doctors, but the specialists are mostly men. We have female engineers, but male engineers are mostly successful and reach heights.

This is the case in any profession. Why? Because women are not expected to excel in their careers, but to make babies and nurture their families by the society.

After a point, that is often child-birth, if not marriage, many career oriented women chose to remain in their same position if at all they are "allowed" to continue. Some even chose flexible careers, and accept pay cut, lower position to be able to balance both family & work responsibilities.

Where as, men have no burdens as such. Even if their career demands travelling out of the country or an extended stay away from the family, they can handle it. Their spouses can support & be the woman behind their success no matter what.

But, it is very rare a man or a family member stands behind a female professional's successful career. Unfortunately she has to pull it through, and cross all the hurdles to climb the ladder.

Of course there may be exceptions, but I am frustrated the amount of struggle women have compared to their male counterparts in attaining their career goals.

Not just chefs, but all the high end professions are mostly men! Be it politics, cinema, administration, medical or entrepreneurship... This should change!

So true.. there is rarely any second thought if a man chooses to advances his career but for woman lot of factors like resources available for childcare, housework , support from husband or close family , sometimes even indirect pressure from social circle play a big role. The sad part is these days no one puts any restrictions on women but they also don't step up enough to support her career and women suffer silently and sacrifice their personal well being trying to balance work and family.
