How Do I Remove Sticky Gunk From Iron

In my infinite wisdom I ironed hemming tape onto the hem of a skirt without placing towel on top!

Now my iron has sticky gunk that is making it hard to iron my satin petticoat

How do I clean off this gunk?

1. Goo Gone from stores i good staple to keep at home
2. Heat iron - then instead of fabric, iron on paper of all sorts, bounty then brown... this process will take time but thats cost of doing this mistake ;-)

I have done that many times and always do step #2, though i have step 1 at home i never thought much. Ultimately heat breaks and gradually it comes up with many tries

BTW @sanjuruby3 I used toothpaste snd a rough brush to scrub it off

of course I had to iron on a towel afterwards to remove any residue toothpastes
