    Can you name a few
    I know some
    1 Kai po che
    2 Firaaq – Nandita Das’s multi starrer directorial debut from 2008 was a hard hitting film based directly on the aftermath of the Godhara riots and its effects on the life of ordinary people. The story is set in Gujarat one month after the riots

    Well, since the subject matter is Kashmir Files.. let's just stick to Indian journalism. (American Journalists have their own biases, but that's for another day.)

    a journalist's job is to report facts. A true journalist keeps the government on the hook to deliver governance and justice. governments are run by politicians and politicians have their reasons to whitewash certain events while showcasing others. But when journalists are in cahoots with politicians, that's when problems happen.

    If you do a simple search of burkha dutt on youtube you will find her explanation on why the ethnic cleansing of Pandits happened. It wasn't religious hatred but purely socio economic reasons why they were targeted. When over and over KP have said, they were asked convert, leave or die and leave how? men can go but the women can't. that is NOT objective journalism.

    perfect! the onus of maintaining harmony is always on the 'majority' (read Hindus), but where Hindus are a minority, this onus does not apply to the 'other' community.

    you should read your own post - you focus on the riots but simply gloss over a train full of innocent children, women and men burnt alive, whose only fault was that they were returning from praying to their Lord. See? THIS is the problem. A lot of us have noticed, that lives of Hindus do not matter. A train was lit on fire but all anyone can talk about is the riot that affected the other community. It must be called the 'post Godhra riots' just so people remember others have suffered too. It doesn't mean we condone violence, but it does mean that we acknowledge the pain irrespective of the religion of the person.

    History books may not have any info on innocent Muslims being killed AFTER the 1993 blasts, but I don't see any information on innocent Hindus being killed IN the blast either. No one writes about that? Yet the 2006 Mumbai train blasts or the 2008 blasts (or the innumerable blasts that happened that I don't recollect or rather don't want to) happened because lives of one particular community is more important than another!

    @soulful,

    I never said the Hindu's life doesn't matter which is why there should be action taken against those who are systematically eliminating the Kashmir Pandits, and those who are responsible for Godhra torching of the train should be punished. Those who are responsible for Indra Gandhi's assasination, those who are responsible for Rajiv Gandhi's assassination, and those who were responsible for Mumbai blasts were all punished. But, justifying a riot as a follow up to a terrorist action is unjust and unacceptable. Going afer innocent Sikhs in Delhi and going after innocent Muslims are outright wrong. All responsible for terrorism should be brought to books irrespective of their religious belief, is my point. The government can't condone the riots as natural extension of the terrorist actions.

    It doesn't mean we condone violence, but it does mean that we acknowledge the pain irrespective of the religion of the person.

    If you really mean it, you will also recognize the pain caused to the innocent Sikhs in Delhi and innocent Muslims in Mumbai along with the pain caused to the Hindu's.

    It is important to bring those responsible for the above to books. But the way generally the governments handle this is to go after who are responsible by collecting intelligence but not by faning the emotions publicly endangering the lives of the Muslims throughout India.

    what makes you think I do not recognize the pain of the Sikh community? That is an assumption you made. Riot’s don’t justify a terrorist action! True! But most riots are started by the peace loving community as a revenge policy. The 1992 riots right after the th Babri Masjid, an unused cement and stone structure, demolition was started by the Muslims! They should have gone to the court instead of killing real people. Doesn’t t the rule apply to them? What should the Hindus do? Offer the heads to be cut? The 1993 blasts were done by the Muslims in reaction to the demolition and the deaths in the 1992 riots! Still the rule doesn’t apply to them. 2006 train blasts were in response to killing of TERRORISTS in Kashmir, yet the same rule doesn’t apply to them. And here I am listing only the Big attacks in Mumbai.because that’s where I come from.

    We have a problem because there are different standards for members of a certain religion. They can avenge whatever hurts them but others should shut up. Kashmiri pandits were systematically hacked to death but they never took up arms. Well, time, natural justice, karma has way of catching up and this movie has been one way.

    , Ideally that’s how it must work, but it doesn’t, does it? You seem to stuck with the ‘innocent Muslim’ theory which btw, I don’t completely agree with. How innocent are these innocent muslims who gather in huge crowds to pay homage and say goodbye to a known convicted terrorist? How is it there are no Muslims who speak against the ones who are not so innocent Muslims? It says something about the community, doesn’t it?
