    @Gauri03 @Viswamitra @ProudIndian

    How about giving a fair trial to see how useful Vipassana meditation is, by attending a ten days course in a Centre, near you ?

    I contacted you, individually also , sometime in the past , in this regard.

    @silentlistener,

    The scriptures say the best Guru will be available for me if I sincerely yearn for achieving super consciousness. I need to serve, adore and revere Him to get that deeksha. No such teacher will price the path to super consciousness. All other commerical methods doesn't excite me. I am not trying to be mean but expressing my honest view.

    Thank you for the recommendation. Attending a 10 day retreat is certainly on my someday-soon wish list. At this stage of my life however, time is at a premium. There are about a dozen things I’d like to do with 10 days off!

    A fast-approaching hurricane changing courses everyday is distressful. Not knowing what to do, all supplies drying out in the store quickly, etc. are painful. The result is high level of stress and the mind refusing to walk away from that fear of destruction.

    A construction I had started back in India hoping a certain level of cash flow to happen with refund order from the IT department and a quick sale of an apartment that I had planned couldn't happen fast enough. The result is high level of stress and the mind refusing to walk away from that fear of unable to achieve my goal.

    I sent a Power of Attorney to the Indian Consulate and they promised that it would be dispatched the same day it is received. However, one week since I submitted it and still it is being processed in the Indian consulate. Finally, I surrendered to the Lord leaving it in His hands to decide whatever is His wish. While I drove to the Hospice, I get a call from the Consular that he was away and would ensure it is dispatched on Monday. Still the anxiety remains whether he would keep his words as the Power of Attorney has to be adjudicated (by the Sub-registrar)within 30 days of signing it and it is already 10 days passed since I signed it. Still the stress remains in tact due to fear of what would happen.

    A minor tweaks that are needed to get a perfect combustion out of a prototype that my son was struggling with. Whenever he is testing it, my mind get stressed refusing to walk away from the fear of failure.

    An effort professionally to raise $5 million to one of the greatest AI-driven productivity tool company taking more time to close the financing round. The mind gets stressed refusing to walk away from the fear of failure.

    An upcoming medical procedure not knowing what to expect out of it creating a high level of stress. The fear of outcome of this procedure makes me think so much about it.

    Saturday, I received an invitation to attend Bhajans in someone's house as their children completed their courses to become a physician. I decided to accept the invitation and participated in this bhajan. During my drive to their house, during bhajan and even after the bhajan when I was driving back, all of these thoughts disappeared for 4-5 hours only to begin again on Sunday morning. I realized that it is possible to stop thinking about something that is beyond my control.

    When I am in such a high-level of stress, I end up committing too many mistakes and unable to focus and make right choices. I end up writing things which I shouldn't have written and so on. I still have a long way to go in terms of understanding thoughts and how they get triggered and how to overcome that level of stress.

    I don’t know am glad or sad or both. In terms of involving in music - yes it helps to keep mind away from fear of failures or negatives. It lasts as long as you are with peopleenjoying music.
    Sometimes later one wonders - OMG - for this unnecessarily i have been worrying - that is when something more serious thing to worry come on our way. One worry blocks the mindfrom other worry that we considered before too much! But i found life is likethat.
    Passage of time cure things. Positive thoughts helps stay strong. I pray that all your fear of failure vanish soon. My best wishes to your son to get that much needed perfect combustion. Is it cetane or octane connected? I mean diesel or petrol.
    Regards.

    The singing the praise of the Lord makes the mind lighter. The bhajans were so elevating last night and everyone sang so melodiously with complete commitment to the praise of the Lord. You are right about one worry replaces another and sometimes after the fact, we feel why we were so worried about that. Time is the big healer but my mind is not patient to wait for the time to elapse.

    It is diesel oil Sir and eventually, it should work with Biodiesel (B100).

    "Observation increases awareness whereas meditation regulates awareness."

    @Viswamitra Viswa, I read this quote last month when you posted it in your status and was struck by how on the mark it was. I wanted to talk more about back then itself but I didn't find the time, my kid was home.

    I was wondering if you would mind sharing more thoughts behind this quote.

    My random thought on observation and awareness is related to journaling. When we add the entry in the journal, we have to think back and reflect on the event. When one maintains a journal, we have a record of events. What might have become a hazy memory is there for us to go back and read. Journaling makes one more observant and keen in the observations, but that has to be balanced with a gentle and sort of non-judgmental way of looking back at what one has written. The journal should serve as a reminder of one's growth and a reminder of the mistakes to avoid but reading it should not make one sadder or less at peace with oneself.

    Would be very interesting to read your thoughts and those of others also on how meditation or mindfulness can be used to regulate awareness.

    @Rihana

    I never knew someone will read the signature tag line and I was pleasantly surprised to see your response. This quote was entirely generated from my mind if there is anything wrong in this thought, I was ready to take complete responsibility for it. I sincerely appreciate your encouraging words.

    The ability to observe allows us to watch all our actions and other activities around us from the mind and the meditation allows us to observe all our thoughts in the mind including one that was not acted upon as yet. While the first one is real time action of the mind while the second one is more of a review of thoughts whether they are acted upon or not. Observation increases the memory and awareness of the present moment and meditation increases the discrimination, in my honest opinion. The meditation brings out deep rooted thoughts from the subconscious mind and to a certain extent allows us to understand the purpose of our lives. Observation sits in the surface and allows us to be aware of the environment and addresses more of the requirement of senses and body. Meditation crosses the barrier and addresses what is inside below the surface. Some call it observation of the thoughts or mind and I feel it is much deeper than that. With proper meditation techniques, we can use our intellect to discriminate using our intuition, the power embedded in us as opposed to the information gathered by the mind which, in my view, are limited.

    More on this later.
