I found this yogurt maker on amazon from bear brand. I found it after youtube video on indian kitchen tools and it was some indian brand in that video.

It needs milk straight from fridge which is the part i love, add starter and leave overnight...same process except cold milk. I normally buy yogurt as too much for things to do at home but most people i know make at home in instant pot. They do not consume that much yogurt guess, i do not know how cost effective it is but i find it hard to make.
Also instant pot I use almost everyday, morning to make rice for lunch so emptying/washing in the morning is work.
Anyone used it or any comments.

I have used another brand of yogurt maker. The instructions that came with it said to add milk powder to the milk and it made delicious thick creamy yogurt every time.
I’m the only one in the house who eats yogurt and I got over my gadget phase long ago, so I now find it easier to just buy cream-top whole milk yogurt.

Do you really need one? I use my oven for making yogurt. Even instant pot I am not comfortable. Just preheat oven to 150F( 350F for 3 mins) if you live in a warm place and 180F(350 for 3.5 minutes) if you live in a cold place, switch off the oven and put the milk culture mix bowl inside oven overnight. By morning you should see the milk set to yogurt. If you don't see it set by morning because the weather is too cold( I am sure you must be having AC, but in case you don't), you can reheat the oven for exactly 2 minutes again and leave the bowl for an hour. It should set by then.

I myself had a question and was thinking of posting a separate thread.

I have had no problems making good yoghurt in the method described by @sarvantaryamini. Heat the Overn to 350 degrees. Turn it off. Heat the milk to warm and add some yoghurt. Leave it overnight and by next morning it will be good. If you need it to be more sour, leave it till the next evening. Better than store bought yoghurt.

I don't know if its worth adding one more gadget for making yoghurt. It possible to make them in big batches and store it in the fridge for about a week even if you eat yoghurt daily.

The question I had was regarding making coconut yoghurt. I have tried instant pot, I have tried the above method but neither of them work. I have tried grinding coconut milk and adding store bought coconut yoghurt to it. I had bought store bought coconut milk adding store bought coconut yoghurt and its not sour enough and smooth enough. Has anyone had any luck making coconut yoghurt. People add probiotic to it and I am not sure which one to buy and they are expensive to experiment.

With instant pot, I had it running for over 40 hours for the coconut milk to ferment and have some sourness to it. Not worth the effort.

I am really curious, is it because you want to become a vegan?

Have you looked at the coconut yogurt recipe by Minimalist Baker? It has a lot of reviews. Culturelle is a popular probiotic, but she also recommends specific brands in her recipe.

    1) Pour water in the IP base.
    2) Place a trivet inside.
    3) Warm milk in a Pyrex dish in the MW. Do not heat or boil. Just enough to make it slightly warm for the culture. In my microwave it’s 1-1.5 mins on high power.
    4) Add culture.
    5) Place Pyrex in IP without using the plastic lid.
    6) Cover the IP with a lid from any of your cooking sets. It has to close completely but shouldn’t sit snug. I use a glass IP lid or a glass lid from a cookware set.
    7) Turn on yogurt mode - 4 hrs works well for yogurt that isn’t sour in summer months. In winters, maybe 5-5:30 hrs.
    8) In the morning, take out the set yogurt, rinse the IP base and you are ready to use it for your rice.

It sounds like a lot of steps but it’s actually very easy to do. I used to use my oven or buy but now I use the IP religiously for yogurt.

Also, buying a second 3 qt IP for just things like yogurt, dal, boiling eggs etc is a good idea. I use both of mine regularly and the small 3qt one is the yogurt IP.

Yes I used to have a different brand of yogurt maker when I made yogurt at home. It was pretty easy and simple to make yogurt. Go for it if you consume yogurt and want to make it in an easy healthy way. I stopped making yogurt and donated it because of living in a very cold place we eat yogurt occasionally so fulfill the need from store bought ones.

Just fyi, the milk should be more hot than lukewarm before you mix culture. It shouldn’t be piping hot. You should be able to put a drop of it on your hand without fear of burning your hand, at the same time you should feel the heat. If the milk has become lukewarm, heat the oven to 30F more than what I mentioned (3.5 and 4 minutes on 350F)
