Watched the movie “ Northern Borders “ on Amazon Prime. Not a popular kind of movie, many may find it dull and sad. But I quite liked the American rural atmosphere of Vermont ( time period is shown as 1956 )in the movie. The boy who acted as Austin is great!

Sharmaji Namkeen - One time watch. Hero`s role is played by 2 actors Rishi kapoor and Paresh Rawal for the same character. The uniqueness is both appear alternatively. First 20 minutes ie 4 or 5 scenes it is little confusing, then I got used to the actor switching. The theme is the life after retirement.

I watched it couple of weeks ago. It was odd to see two actors appearing randomly for one character but both are such fine actors, so it was ok. One time watch, yes.

Juhi Chawla looked old in a ragged, puffy faced way. That voice also is better suited to a younger person. Nice to see Sheebha Chaddha in the movie, wish she got meatier roles too.

All the cooking Sharmaji does in the movie in his own kitchen, had me thinking two things: they never show him washing vessels or cleaning up the counter. : ) Unlike the harried woman in the Malayalam movie The Great Indian Kitchen. Secondly, all that namkeen he makes had me craving chaat like an expecting woman. : ) : ) Ended up at two Chat Cafe's that weekend. Was happy to see that my favorite chaat places had made it through the pandemic.

At the end of the movie, they showed this tribute to Rishi Kapoor. A host of stars dance like Rishi Kapoor did in "Meri umar ke naujawanon" from Karz. None of them, not a single one, could even come close to Rishi Kapoor in the dance moves!

I did not understand the ending.

    SPOILER ALERT !

Could you pls explain your interpretation. Does shefali know that vidya was the driver ?
she decides not to hurt the boy and takes him to beach. and that also puts vidya in guilt. is that it ?

    1) Shefali gets to know that Vidya was the driver. They don't explicitly show how but I guess it is from the video footage that the inquisitive reporter finds and when the injured girl's bf is thrashed in the rain in front of Shefali's house and is forced to say what happened that night.

    2) Vidya decides to confess her part in the accident. I guess the guilt gets too much or she just wants to be a good human after all. So, she arranges for the video recording of her confession interview.

    3) Shefali plans a revenge of killing Vidya's son but doesn't carry out the plan though she takes the boy to the beach.

The 1 2 and 3 happen independent of each other.

Ha,ha!:grinning: The great indian kitchen is a serious movie, so the washing of vessels grabbed most of the time.
This Sharmaji namkeen is on the lighter side, so they ignored completely
