If they are traveling by car,Google map shows correct direction.you can go via Kumbakonam or mayiladuthurai.
(It's Little near to mayiladuthurai , actually more over it is in between mayiladuthurai and Kumbakonam)
By train, you can get down at mayiladuthurai junction/Kumbakonam junction and from there bus,cab are available . Better you book fast-track for distance charge than getting cab at station they may charge more. Buses are available, you can get down at one min distance walk.if they gonna take bus Pls board pvt bus, don't take govt bus. But personally I don't prefer bus. I travelled on own bike, bike ride was the best.... My suggestion board cab

I went at 11am by looking at calendar for auspicious time. They can either take Pooja items on their own or they can buy at temple ( they charge more than normal rate)

At the counter, you can get Pooja ticket(straight darshan costs more but it is reasonable rate or normal darshan) or you can ask people at counter for very special darshan.

Based on number of people present,they will open the gate for darshan. While rest have to wait for their turn.

According to me ,no need to book. And I don't know during COVID whether they have changed any rules.

I didn't book ma I went directly two years back.

That is for someother thosham.

For marriage,they will do Pooja infront of God and no need for booking

3. It was some time in the year 1961-62.

• With my bosom friend, I took only late night train from Chennai Elmore to reach early morning மயில் ஆடு துரை Mayiladu Durai (next to மாயவரம் Mayavaram).
• We went by bullock-kart to the temple on mud road from mayiladu durai. A particular day of the week was supposed to be very auspicious which am not able to recall now.
• I heard from My relatives & friends that this laid back village and temple have gone sea of change over last five decades. The roads are macadmised. Regular vehicles ply to temple from city Kumbakonam & Mayavaram.

Mayavaram has been renamed to mayiladuthurai g
It really indeed a joyful , colourful journey if you travel from Kumbakonam to thirumanencheri in bike.

And as u said , temple is so developed than before

I wish I turn young to do that ride with spouse. She refused to be my pillion when she attained 60. I stopped riding bike/scooter in 2006.

Ofcourse you shouldn't ride one at this age.i read it. I feel bad though. That shouldn't have happened for both amrutha and Anjali
