OTP - Onion, Tomato, Potato & Cry? In the yore of days, an Onion, a Tomato and a Potato were bosom friends. But a couple came and began to dice the Potato that had numerous “eyes”. By seeing their pal dying, Onion and Tomato began to weep & cry. And then, the couple began chopping Tomato into tiny pieces and could not stand it: the Onion cried a lot seeing his another friend dying. After chopping the Tomato, the couple was about to cut the Onion. Onion turned helpless and so prayed to God Almighty that it wanted someone to cry for his death, because it had cried for the death of his friends Potato & Tomato and it did not want to die without getting mourning. So, God Almighty listened to fervent prayer of the Onion and granted it’s wish and therefore human couples cried when the onion was diced or chopped.

I read a version of this story in a Tinkle comic when I was 6-7 years old. I believed it was true for a long time too! OTP should have prayed to God that humans never discover how delicious they are together. Makes for the best accompaniment to piping hot puris! : )
Super trio and super comments. My son during his teens very fond of comics desi as well as western like Asterix. He once translated my idea for "Supandi" short cartoon story and forwarded it for publishing. With cartoon pictures for this story it appeared in Tinkle magazine and from then he found writing to magazines is more rewarding & articles to news papers is remunerative. He is continuing this even today. He wrote numerous "supandi" comic stories that got published in tinkle. From him only I got the impetus to write to chicken soup for soul series. Thanks for nostalgia. Trust you hv fully recovered from the effect of fall and continue with workout regimen. Regards.
After reading your snippets I am not surprised your son is a published writer too. Talent runs in the family! If you know the issue number of the tinkles in which his stories were published please do share. I will try to find and read them. My husband is a huge collector of old Indian comic books. We have almost the entire catalog of Indrajal comics, Amar Chitra Katha and many many Tinkle digests. Thanks for asking about my fall. I am almost 100% recovered now. : )
