I had mentioned in my previous post "my love for sugarcane and henna" that I will try to make "Jeeraga maruthani /jeera henna"

My Love For Sugarcane And Henna

I tried and have succeeded in it successfully though I messed up a little I am still proud of how it turned out

    Thanks to youtube videos

I think you won't catch cold as it is only made of jeera and sugar. But be cautious of the kumkum you use for the color. I used the kumkum which I have been using for years

And yet to find how long the henna remains

    funny thing:

As it is first time, though I warned my husband , he thought I burnt something in the kitchen. But glad he appreciated it.

Beautiful color. Jeera Henna is new to me. Never heard of it before. I googled the videos and looks like the color lasts around 5 to 6 days. Would be lovely if we have something like this to cover your grey hairs right?? Something that will not cool your body and activate your sinuses.

Yaayyy I learnt something new today. Thank you.

The color is because of kumkum ma. The more you wash your hands, the sooner the kumkum color fades and original color comes. That too for me ,my hands should be very clean or I get allergy.

True ma , I am looking for natural henna for my sis. She catches cold soon bcz of sinuses.

    Thanks to you too

    Op,

Your hand color is simply superb!

But what is this kumkum you keep mentioning? After reading your post I checked YouTube and saw couple videos - one used tea powder, jeera and sugar, another only tea pwdr and sugar. No kumkum. which stage you add kumkum?

also the videos simply show the katora after the heating part, they just neatly remove and show next steps. What I want to know is — wouldn’t the bottom pot get badly burnt? And how do you clean that burn mess?

    Sindoor red kumkum ma
I Added it after taking the cup out and mixed it for thickness

As you have said,It takes lil effort to take it out and I used tin. So, though it is burnt I was able to remove the burnt jeera and sugar molten with knife easily

I did lik how it is shown in this video ma
At 1:27 sec u can find she s adding kumkum. That color remains for a day if you don't wash your hands frequently. From next day actual henna color u will get. This is my first time I have to see for how long it will stay IMG_20220129_102125839.jpg

This is how I did with tin IMG_20220128_143436033~2.jpg

    Oh!
Thanks for the link. This video is different from what I found. There they added wheat flour to the liquid from tea powder/sugar/jeera to thicken it and applied it like mehndi. Result was a dull brownish orange. This video makes what you explained clear, result looks much nicer, like the alta they apply in eastern/bengal side.

Tin idea is very smart of you! can use and throw instead of spoiling one of my vessels!

Yeah Alta can be removed easily too on same day with remover, many barathanatyam dancers use it here too

But dont apply on nails, it is not that absorable as normal cone henna/maruthani

May be they might have added wheat flour instead of kumkum to prevent allergy from some bad products

Tin is also an idea I got from my experience and I have kept it for second round
