    A pet is not a toy that “you will promise to give it away” when you get tired of it. Dogs are sentient creatures. Please don’t regard them like a pair of shoes you toss out when it goes out of style.

    @Caide, I wish everyone would put as much thought into this as you have. Too many pets are brought home impulsively and then neglected or abandoned.

    In addition to the initial cost of purchasing a pet, take into account the cost of maintenance: food, grooming, vet bills, etc.

    I don't know about hedgehogs, but hamsters are easy. A caution though: animals can catch Covid.

    Have you considered getting a rabbit? They are friendly and cuddly. I had one as a child. :)

    If you have an animal shelter in your area, foster a pet and see how it goes. It will help you decide what works best for you. Good luck!

    See if you can find a pet care service in your city like Rover.com: Book Dog Boarding, Dog Walking and More. Sign up to be a dog walker or provide care for a few hours in the day. It's a great way to check if you are up to the responsibility that having a dog as a pet entails.

    My friends with school-age kids did this during the pandemic. Pretty much all the kids stopped asking for a dog after a few days of taking care of one. : )

    Having a dog in the family is a lot of work for the adults but so totally worth it. Never had one, I just know it. : )

    ETA: Just read Amica's post above suggesting something similar.

    @Amica
    I don't wanna to neglect or abandoned pet thats y I am very selective in it. Me and my husband both of us are discussing to get a pet of common liking. And as you said we have even discussed about other miscellaneous costs.

    Thanks for the link - I will be cautious while getting one

    And thanks for suggesting rabbit, I will ask him about it.

    @Amica @Rihana

    I have checked these shelters ma.

    1. The place is too far from my place to volunteer
    2. The ones which are little near, They have cats and dogs. As I said my husband doesn't wanna raise them in apartment. (Truth is He is more sensitive ) . First he was against pets as they need to be taken care of properly. He literally started to think of all issues like
    1. Our pain if they leave to a place from where we can't bring them back
    2. Leaving them behind or in shelters while going away or while travelling. And many more

    I really tried hard and finally convinced him. Still to say the truth , he still in dilemma . Hope I get one pet this time. I am really glad he cares for me and for the pet too. But I want one :tired:
    As of now we have decided to choose either- bird,hamster.

    One day me and my husband went to a pet shop to buy fish. As we entered the shop a voice said hey hi! Welcome and then a laugh haha! Then hi how are you? We looked around who’s talking to us? But nobody was there nearby. We asked the shop owner and he said oh no it’s the bird. Wow it was that cockatoo! It had yellow crown! So majestic! We went nearby and he immediately climbed on my husbands hand refused to get off! Can’t forget this experience!

    Ya it was difficult for me to leave it there! Psst no I did not buy any. But ya long ago I bought 2 parakeets and it laid eggs and it became 22 birds in a big cage! I used to take out the little ones and play with them! It was so pretty but then they started to fight between themselves and killing each other! I can see blood! Oh god I got scared and let all of them free!
