I pray regularly but nothing seems to be helping me. I always feel depressed and helpless!

Long back, as a college student, I was attending aarti at a temple. Standing next to me was a girl student from the same college. After the aarti was over, with folded hands we bowed and moved out. On the way, I asked her, what did you ask from the diety. She said, nothing in particular only -happiness and peace. (Sukh Aur Shanti).
Since then, I do not ask anything in particular but only Sukh and Shanti. It covers everything. I leave it to Him if He is there and listening to decide what is Sukh and Shanti for me.

I am not so sure but I know our expectations, from anyone, including God are the reasons for our unhappiness. In Hindi we call it Apeksha. We should not only look for expectations but also see that we do not ignore Upeksha anyone. Both Apeksha and Upekasha lead to unhappiness.
So the golden rule is, neither expect nor ignore. Pray but expect nothing in return.

Upeksha is ignoring or neglecting someone. It is in general terms and as is Apeksha. In this context, we should neither expect something in return for our prayers and at the same time neglect nor ignore our faith in God.

I like this concept, "happiness and peace"

I will try praying for that, and let God decide what that is.

    Dear Hariji,
I pray, go to temple now and then. Never questioned myself why I am doing it. I do not ask for anything. Just pray...that's all. Is it habit or faith? I think it is faith in some supreme power. I believe faith has no logic or analysis.
