    Do Prayers Help?

I can call myself spiritual. I do recite Om Jai Jagadish Hare every morning and it has become more of a ritual with nothing in return. I also know people who have some Mantra for every occasion. One of them is Mahamritunjay Mantra for the fast recovery and long life of a sick person or a person in danger.
The recent one is the recitation of this Mantra on a large scale by BJP for the long life of the Prime Minister after the security lapse in Punjab.

    Does it really work?

    Do Prayers Help?
A question faced invariably by people faced with unsurmountable hardships . In general we have been taught from the beginning that prayers and faith in God will solve all issues. As we grow up, although we may question at times, the feeling that there is a supreme being who is guiding all matters and not everything can be achieved by man alone, does come up. I am speaking of my personal views in this regard.
I have noticed over the years that people with religious/spiritual inclinations are less likely to get into any addictions and lead happier/healthy lives. It is said that faith can move mountains and when faith is there, hope and a will to live life to the fullest follows. It is with this belief that the Mrutunjaya homam is done on occasions of birthdays of seniors in the family.
Does it work for everyone i would say would depend on their own individual karmas and deeds done.

    Prayers!
I was brought up with spiritual thoughts but I started to believe in prayers when things started to change that my life got Bc of prayers!
I think it depends one’s belief and if you are honest and believe in prayers definitely it gives a lots of cheer and better life!
One may wonder does really god exist! I certainly feel there is some super power beyond all that governs the nature! There are negative and positive energy around us. And to keep negative energy away from us and to bring in positive energy towards us prayers in a proper way it will work miracles!
Coming to mitrunjaya prayers will work if the person effected is honest! And this prayer should be done the way it should be done. People who are conducting should be pure and honest. Every thing matters for a prayer to be successful!

Prayer must be told with pure heart - not to show others you are praying.

I see this lot of times.

nowadays I pray for what I want. Then God either shows me it is not a good prayer, I.e pray to be with someone who is a bad person.

    OR

God will say, ok if you want this then you follow my steps. And internally you know what is the right or wrong thing to do.

Religious/spiritual beliefs are based on FAITH. The results have riders like karmas and deeds done. This is the dilemma faced by many. Nonreligious can also be free from addictions. A lot of things depend on what we eat and drink. I guess more people die of heart diseases caused by high BP and obesity than those with eating in balance.
    The question remains why me?

There certainly is a superpower. By and large, all Hindus are brought up with spiritual thoughts. I guess every religion has this practice of praying to the Almighty in times of distress. This may help in satisfying that we did everything including the prayers to save the situation.
It is only when we put those beliefs into reasoning that doubts arise. It is rather difficult to find if the person conducting is pure or not. We are left with no choice.

To be honest No. I believe in doing whatever best I can do under my control.
I do my morning prayer with the belief that it will keep me grounded. I don't expect anything in return. If all is destined, why crib?

I pray to stay grounded expecting nothing in return. The reason is if my prayers are not heard, I may start blaming God. If, accepted, I may give credit to my efforts.

Pray and expect nothing in return? That is interesting!
