    Hi,
As many would be aware , I am 67 years old. I have been diagonised with GERD too since the last 2 months. I was having gastric problem on and off over the years. However, the symptoms as described by you above, became very severe and I went for a complete check up with specialist.
I have been advised to strictly change diet for at least one month on trial basis, to complete bland food. Meaning -no oil, fried or spicy food. To have just plenty of boiled or raw veges, milk if to be taken should be low fat. To avoid all gas forming veges like root veges like potato, raw banana etc. Food to be taken at least 2 hours before going to sleep especially at night. I have been following the above and i have found a lot of relief . My throat also used to be scratchy and burning sensation - which is also said due to th acid reflux! However, complete lack of spices is also difficult to stick to in the long run. I have now slowly started to include a little pepper , ginger in place of chiilies.
You could try and see how you feel and then consult to doctor if needed later. All the best.

I have the same issue! Curd is the best solution. Of course less spice and oil is helping too!

Hey if you are young then normally should not have any issues of burning or acid reflux. I suggested the bland for people who are almost done with eating tasty food.

With good self-control any food related problem can be managed successfully.

Yes, so self-control in avoiding that food even if one likes it would help

    Dear Priyanka,

    I too suffer from GERD.
You need to check and see what food that you eat causes the heartburn. You should stop taking that food item. You should eat less quantity. Never eat stomach full. While you are drinking water take sip by sip and don't gulp however thirsty you are.
I stopped diary products and coffee as this was causing too much problem for me.
    Hope you get better.
    Regards
    Uma
