    Parachutes aren't just for pilots ejecting from fighter jets during combat. We all require parachutes to get through the day, week, month, and year. To thrive, to grow, and sometimes just to survive. We need a variety of parachutes — it could be a physical parachute, a mental parachute, an emotional parachute, or a spiritual parachute. People around us provide these parachutes in little ways that are easy to overlook. Make it a goal this year to thank those who construct and pack your parachutes.

    If you come across a "parachute" in IL, see a post that helps you or all in any way, please take a moment to nominate it for Finest Post.

    Happy January, folks! I hope yours is tranquil, calm, and peaceful. That's what I'd like to see in mine.

    Parachute idea inspired from Who Packed Your Parachute.

    A great opener this is that fills me with awe. I have received so many of them in my life's journey that I ought to be celebrating everyday as a Thanksgiving Day. If I start writing about them it would be longer than Harry Potter Series!

    Yes Rih, I want serenity and finally learning to how to be quiet when I need to be.
    My first nomination for this year goes to @Vedavalli's post in this thread Relocation Confusion.

    Somehow I thought about above line many times and decided to it is 100% true. If we aren't happy, it is hard to make others happy. Especially a mom can do anything for her children when she is contented and kids grow while watching their mom.

    @Rihana

    It is so appropriate you used parachute as an example. Someone like me who has gone through 67 precious years with so much experience can get carried away flying high not knowing the altitude nor the risks associated with what can happen when I fly high. I am a big believer that most of what I learn are from the younger generation and I had mentioned it many times in my earlier posts. It is amazing how men and women who are much younger to me contribute invaluable insights here that brings me back to the ground with newly gained gyan. This site is a treasure trove as far as gaining knowledge from others experiences. Wish you and family a very happy, fulfilling and energetic year 2022.

    @Rihana,

    I am here to nominate my favorite author and in-house humorist @meenasankaran's snippet Are You Ready To Unmask?. She has a knack of presenting the problems we all encounter regularly nowadays with a great sense of humor. I wish she writes more and more as she has no need to socialize until we eradicate COVID. I am still laughing about her statement that she missed a small detail that she didn't know how to sew and her making husband's dhotis into pieces and using it for different purpose than making masks.

    We need her tribe for testing pandemic years.

    @Rihana - Happy 2022! Gratitude is something that I have to focus on in 2022. Thank you for the timely reminder.
    With everything going on around us, taking a step back, taking a deep breathe and maybe adding in some humor to our mundane everyday lives is the much needed tonic to maintain sanity. We do see a lot of posts in the married life section. They touch upon all aspects of a relationship. Sometimes, a poster like @Caide shows up with some much needed humor.

    I can identify with this so much. At 2:00 AM, when I am sure I heard something in the backyard, he does tell me - “It’s the rabbits, go back to sleep”!

    We do need some laughter along with all else in our relationships. Caide’s post Funny Conversations Between Me And My Husband
    is a reminder to infuse some into our daily lives. I’d like to nominate the post for FP!
