I am adding applique to a wrap maxi skirt, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HG3Q8B6/

My concern is that I also need to add weight to the waist part, which is used to wrap the skirt. Is this necessary? Do I need to add a "fall" they way we add fall to saree.

Here is what I have. In the end I hope to have 3 inch layer of assorted applique lining the bottom and side border. Applique is in transit :)

    Please give feedback

So you have skirt ready, and you want to add applique ( those purpose flowers are design) starting from wrap side going down to hem, and again coming up from other side up to waist, Then u want some applique yellowish petals on waist as well ,do i understand u right?

Why do you want weight? You petals/trim would add the weight. For side, you can use less or sparse. Hem line will be anyways more and get more petals and will become heavy. OR you can go with western equivalent of fall - which is horsehair braid or some other equivalents. Horsehair would look clear but idea is same. I do not know if fall/horsehair will work with tiered skirt or not.

My personal opinion - ditch the flowers/trims. Your skirt is tiered skirt, not straight flowy skirt. Too much going on.
Unless you have some need to do it for some event etc, i think it is pretty as is. If you need it, add some straight subtle ( less vivid ) ,trim may be .
If you doing it just for creativity vent out, scatter the flowers, rather than going along hem.
If u already added purple flowers, no need to add anything else, imo

    Crooect.

I already ironed on the purple because the dress seemed blah when I paired it with a green Kurti, plus I was covering an accidental tear.

Oh no, I don’t want weight. I was concerned that if I add more appliqué to the side and bottom, it would weigh down the skirt. Hence I thought I should balance the weight with tiny petals to attach to the waisted tie.

I already added the purple flowers. Then I was hit with a creative bug and ordered appliqué in bulk :)

    I the idea of subtle.

Either I will leave skirt as is (sometimes we under-estimate how pretty our possessions already are!), or I might sprinkle few white flowers or yellow sunflowers (they already shipped).

Will have to place them to make sure it highlights the already beautiful and tiered skirt without weighing it down (physically and figuratively)

Thank you so much for your advice!

    Hello @sanjuruby3

I took our advice to keep the borders subtle and it worked (now will sew the glued-on patches for re-enforcement, plus want to add tiny bells to the end of the waist-tie)
