    Rihana,
    It’s hard to be a superwoman but sometimes people around today’s women expect it. And when she goes forth and does it, instead of lauding her for the achievements, it’s considered just another unimportant frill. Even while gaining personally from her successes, it’s not given due credit. @Reesha has described it very well in her post Why Girl Career Is Always Secondary?

    She has articulated this frustration and double standards really well.
    It hurts especially when even our own parents seem not to get it!
    I’d like to nominate Reesha for FP for this post. I hope all of us find people in our lives that can hold us up.

    @Rihana

    I second the nomination of @Laks09 of @Reesha's thread Why Girl Career Is Always Secondary?. It is a difficult to digest fact in the society that so much importance is given to a man's career as opposed to woman's despite the parents vehemently denying that both are raised equally. Especially, when a woman is married, the resistance from in-laws family about recognizing her career makes it much more difficult. Hopefully, these experiences will make the new generation of women wiser and support their daughters' career whether they are married or not.

    Nomination #5

    @Rihana,

    I am here to nominate Balajee's thread Hello, Hello Have You Seen The Moon? for the sense of humor he brings with his comments on a special day celebrated by the Indian women. While I respect the women's right to celebrate it the way they do, I enjoyed his great sense of humor including his club organizing programs for this special day.

    Thank you for the nomination, Viswa. As always, the response by @DDream in Husband Issues strikes the perfect combination of empathy and practical counsel.

    The marriage described by OP there can seem almost irreparable, but DDream finds something salvageable and offers the OP there options and actions. The options range from tactfully reasoning with the husband to ignoring him and concentrating on oneself. Whichever path the OP chooses, it will only improve her situation.

    Thyagu, thank you for bringing this strong response by @beautifullife30 to FP Hate Begets Hate

    @beautifullife30 has presented her points in a polite and balanced manner in a topic that can get heated. Such responses are key to a discussion's progress. Though I am rather out of touch with the current political events in India and their news coverage, I could connect with the part about Aamir Khan's movies and most of the other points.

    Another excellent response from @beautifullife30 for problems that women face in conversations with near and dear. Dilemma And Issue Within My Life

    "Can you play deaf whenever your husband or anyone talks anything about past or dig up the past or try to talk unnecessary things?"
    and
    "If playing deaf is hard for you, just calmly get up and walk away from the room. "

    @beautifullife30 has neatly evaluated the situation. Playing deaf is the best option. With an equally viable second one of walking away from the room.

    I am glad you brought this to FP, Viswa. It has ideas that are useful in quite a few situations.

    @Laks09 @Viswamitra, October was starting to look like a lean month for FP nominations. This post by @Reesha has certainly brought energy to the discussions. Why Girl Career Is Always Secondary?

    Reesha has stated what is a fact of life for many educated and accomplished women who are no less than men at work, often do more at home, and who also take care of in-laws and parents. I have often wondered why it is so. If society does not give women full credit for their career, it is one thing. But when such treatment comes from the woman's parents themselves, it is puzzling. Why do they behave like this after having brought up the girl just like they brought up their son? The only reason that comes to my mind is that society still measures the parents by their son's accomplishments, so the parents also start to give his achievements more importance.

    Thank you Viswa for nominating this light snippet by @Balajee: Hello, Hello Have You Seen The Moon?

    It takes some skill to write lightly about a celebration observed by women, and to manage that without hurting the sentiments of women, fasting or not. : )

    I can't deny there is a certain charm in the festivities of the day. As long as the women are not forced by their in-laws to keep the vrat, and if the men manage to keep a token fast to support the wife, it makes for some fun times on the terrace and all round.

    It was nice to read the humorous observations of Balajee.
