    :hello: WAR & PEACE :hello:
When she was sinking by & by, it was decided that upon sighting the rescue boats, first women and children alone from ship would be evacuated.

A young man disguised as woman managed to get out of sinking Titanic and reached his native nation. But he was unwelcome in the nation of his birth. He was cried out “shame shame” in his place. Like a coward he escaped from the crisis, which behaviour Japanese could not tolerate and accept.

And talking of Japanese culture, another real incident indeed crossed the mind.

It was war time in Japan and the ferocious soldiers of enemy country were riding on horses carrying swords and guns plundering the city and slaughtering men & women at sight.

A young woman was feeding by hand to mouth two toddlers. One was sitting on her hip and the other was clinging to her dress.

As she saw at a distance, the approaching soldiers on stallions, she perplexed for a while as she thought running along with two toddlers to escape near impossible. In a jiffy, she decided to leave the kid on her hip down and ran to escape with the other kid.

An old man from his hide- out happen to watch her sprinting away to escape with a kid & the kid left out by her being slaughtered by a horseman.

When peace returned a while later, the old man met that woman holding the kid close to her bosom. Kids being on equal footing for affection from their mother, how come she left one and ran with the other. He enquired her.

The old man astounded hearing her response. She said,

“The toddler I left out on the spot was mine. I had no right to expose this kid of my neighbour to death”.

It is really a touching story. I remember a Charlie Chaplin movie The Kid. The mother can not afford to feed the kid or something and leaves him on the roadside who is picked by Charlie. The mother returns after some 5 or 7 years, to claim the kid.

Thanks for quoting the “the kid”. A wonderful movie of silent era and excepting the core plot rest of the story is real.

The old man in my post was astounded of the fact that a woman sacrificing her own baby to save neighbour's. His eyes filled with tears at the thought of great culture of his nation Japan that strives even in the hour of crisis to live for others’ sake. For Such a nation, it is natural that her citizens loathe the man escaped from sinking Titanic disguised as a woman.

Such stories of sacrifice should find a place in school curriculums.

Such examples are rare. In one of Sherlock Holmes's stories, it is shown that in times of crisis one tries to save first what he or she loves the most. In the story, it was the confidential hidden papers when a fire broke in the room. I was traveling on a train. We were just five or six passengers in the first-class cabin. Suddenly, the smoke raised from the ceiling fan. The lady on the opposite side lifted her kid and moved out of the cabin, not bothering about her other belongings.

Extreme situation brings out both nobility and meanness in people. The lady showed her noble side.Like the pandemic and movement of migrant workers brought the best in people and the worst in our government. While authorities washed their hands of migrant workers seeking to go home from states where lockdown had led to loss of their jobs, private individuals stepped in to help them by providing food and rven transportation.

Best in terms of FB CONNECTING the story to situation prevailed during pandemic lockout announcement(s) that caused greatest and gravest hardships to migrant workers all over the nation. Yes our heart goes out to them and to those nongovernmental efforts by private individuals and associations.

    Thanks and Regards.
