Might is Right. History is witness that in any war the winner punishes the vanquished. Germany, Spain, Russia, England, Japan, America did it. Now Taliban is doing it. The tragedy is they are punishing their own brothers and sisters. Political parties also do the same. Nothing has changed, nothing will.

    I agree with @HariLakhera .
    But to this statement
    There is an exception.
Purushotham was defeated but Alexander didn’t punish him. He gave back the land he grabbed by battling on the banks of Jhelum river in Punjab (now in Pak)

Might is right - not necessarily in wars and battles but in civil life too.
When bus arrives at or little away from scheduled stop, the queues always gets disrupted in Chennai unlike Mumbai and in the commotion mighty ones are able to alight or getting into bus.

In locals of Mumbai commuters are skilful to get into or exit from the compartment before train comes to a halt at platform & also the pick-pockets skill fully by sleight of their palm get the purse from rushing one’s.
    But it is also said
Mighty brawn is no match for a nimble Brain
