I am bitten by K-drama bug!!
My co-worker introduced me to K-drama. I just can't tear away from it now.
All I think about, talk about, read is k-drama or Webtoons!!

    1. The TV show focus on the story not on the character expressions
    2. It is soo relatable.
3.Culturally I can grasp around 85% of the socitieal structure
    4. The actors can really ACT!!
    5. The language is so soothing on your ears.
    6. Actors are so cute
    7. I love how everyone is so respectful to elders.

I dont know how to explain this feeling!! It's almost like I am in love with k-culture (atleast what's represented on the TV)

I just wanted to share this!
If you have favorite show or talk more about k-drama please share.
I want to indulge more of this obsession!!

Also why am I this obsessed?!! I just can't think why!!

Years ago I watched the K-drama "Dr.Jin" -- a medical doctor time travels back to Korea of the dynastic era, and experiences internecine wars, palace romances and common people.

This sounds like the British Sci-fi show Doctor Who! But the main cast is an actual surgeon!! Wow!! I will try to find it.

I am sooo happy this thread got started. The other K-drama threads are very old and those members don't post any more.

I never thought I would get so obsessed by any TV shows. Like many people, I got introduced to K-dramas with "Crash Landing on You" at the start of the pandemic. A friend or two recommended it and also read praise for it from @shravs3 here. I watched 20 minutes of the first episode in the family room with lots of disturbances. Immediately paused it to watch in private later and life has never been the same again. : )

On a whim, I made space on the wall and asked DH to buy a TV for my woman cave. I thought my fascination with k-dramas would wear off in a few months.. but not so!

Netflix served up "Something in the Rain" in my list. I avoided that for a while so as to not spoil my memory of Son Ye-Jin as Yoon Seri. Finally started watching that. I used to watch an episode on TV and then rewatch some parts the next day on the laptop. No fresh episode watching on the laptop. SITR remains my favorite k-drama to date. The relationship between Son Ye-Jin and her best friend, the interactions between Son Ye-Jin and her father. Re-watching this one currently.

I can go on... more later.. lots more to confess. :)

Do you watch on Viki too?

Really? To my surprise, it turned out that many of my friends and old classmates are also into K-Drama. Not the same genres but almost everyone seems to have been hooked to these dramas at one time or the other.

I do have one friend who has similar taste as me but I avoid discussing with her any show that I am still watching. : ) She skips forward and then will let slip a comment or two about the upcoming episodes.

OMG!! I didnt know there were other threads. I have to do some reading then!

I was recommended to watch Crash Landing on You as well. I am yet to watch.
Thanks for recommending "Something in the rain" I will watch it.

To be honest I have just watched 3 k-dramas.
    1. True beauty
    2. My id is Gangnam Beauty
    3. Cheese in the trap.

All are teen romance. I haven't ventured to other genres yet. Honestly, I don't even watch/ read the romantic genre. Or I have never. I can't believe I am singing praises of K-romance

True beauty is a webcomic that was recommended and I got soo sucked into it. I watched the series.
And honestly, the K-romance genre is so innocent, so real.. no ill behaviour or cunning/ negative character or plots. Where life goes on in spite of bad things.
Even if there are negative situations the characters are made to explain why they were involved in things negatively.

One thing that I noticed is that K-society is so much vocal about how handsome or beautiful people are and how they don't shy away about going under the knife to look pretty. Is it true? Do they really go under knife at a very young age ?

Yes, many Koreans are extremely conscious about skin and beauty. Plastic surgery is a huge business in Korea and their skin-care routines are legendary.
