Charity starts at home Not outside Not where everyone can see you Not on the streets of Naples or Rome You complain you don't have time But if you achieved what you Think makes you happy Would friends come to your Rescue, and even loan you a dime You think "what if, what could I be" If I didn't not have to wake Up so early And toil for my family You forget what they have done You forget the torment they had borne Because they never had a golden boy Someone to call their son You forget how they appreciate That you make 24 hours Into 28 You forget how fortunate you are How you must work work work hard In order to reach and be among the stars Well-meaning idiots tell you to stand back They tell you go get a life You want to tell them to run up a hill And jump down a pike! Can you get happiness in sloth Can you get happiness in gluttony Can you get happiness when you go out Roam like a stupid animal And waste, waste waste your Hard-earned money? Sometimes we look for the big picture We think we will be happy If we become like the ones we see But how do you know the one you see Is looking back at you and your life Green with envy?
It becomes habit for me to look for your poems around this time everyday. A thought provoking poem, Suidhaaga.
Oh thank you so much. I try my best each day I listen to my heart Rather than my brain For the best words To convey!
