You enter into this world happily
Parents welcome you as a goddess
They bring you up as delicate as a flower
They teach you how to be traditional
You are busy with studies and friends
They fix your marriage in a hurry
You want to complete your studies
You don't know how to convince
    They give assets/money to bridegroom
to set a new home for you
You start a new turn with simple desires
Greedy life partner demands more luxuries
He thrashes you mercilessly to warn parents
    Parents afraid of society
    You have neither courage to
    walk away from marriage
    Nor give trouble to parents
You don't find any support and comfort
You end your life in search of peace
Can I blame parents for not protecting you from brutal person ?
Or can I blame patriarchal society for wild customs/traditions?

[Vismaya’s dowry harassment death shocks Kerala. More evidences emerge against husband made me wrote this and we still hear this kind of miserable stories now and then]

Nice one :) As Rihana said in that thread, this “ log kya kahenge “ feeling is the ultimate villain in most of the cases... When there is physical abuse in marriage, girls should be taught to run away and not look back or have second thoughts...

Thanks Sir for your comments. Those thoughts were in my mind since my college days that's why I didn't take much time to put them in words.

Yes, the main problem in India is people give more importance to society than their own feelings and safety. We have to learn Live and let live. Change has to come in all.

As long as we put boys on a pedestal (even useless ones), these cases will only increase. Girl who has everything is pressured to marry and useless boy and his useless family believe they are doing Girl and her Family a favor.

I see it around me. We blame Society but we ARE Society!
