My mother was a very simple lady who was very much attached to her mother. Since her mother did not have a son she stayed with us only. My grandmother was like a mother to us and my mother like a sister. We used to call my mother chinnamma and grandmother periamma

They both used to finish cooking by 7 am
And whole day my mother will be reading prayer book. My grandmother.died before my marriage and told me I won't be there but my blessings for you to get a good husband. Surprising my husband is from her place.

My mother stayed with me when my elder daughter was born. Once I had to go for overtime when I took my mother and daughter who must have been 2 yrs or so. We had to go by train .when the train came my mother got in but I could not. Luckily I told a known person in the train to help my mother to get down at Dadar. It was a rainy day and trains were late. I was so worried about my mother . My mother does not know any other language except Tamil and malayalam. By God's grace when I got down my mother was there waiting for me
.My husband used to come back from office at 4 .30 PM that time my mother used to hold my daughter',s hand and carry my son and go half way to see my husband.

In her last days she was sick and my husband looked after her like his own mother. On Diwali day she fell sick and was admitted in the hospital. Every day I used to go in the morning and evening to see my mother as I was working that time.
The day before her death I went to see her after office and told her tomorrow I have important work so will come in the evening. My maid used to look after her as I could not get leave. That night after coming back my husband said your mother won't live long.so again I went to see her
She was surprised I said I felt like seeing you. Next day the doctor said to Inform my siblings who were out of Bombay. When I went to make a call by the time I came back she expired.Felt so sad. Only three days she was sick and did not give trouble to anyone

Its hers a d elders blessings what I am today

:hello: @iyerviji - One of the senior most Hall of fames, remember her Mother and Mother’s Mother selected this platform to pay tributes on ( international) Mother’s Day. This post of sister, would impel every reader to reflect upon their own experiences with their Mother and contemplate the level of affection that they had been receiving since their childhood to the presenthood!

The post reminded me of my mom who acted more ore less in the same manner as my mom did for me and family members. But for some mild bickering here & there, she was agile, friendly, helpful, supportive in every activity at home.

When my son was one year old, she dressed up him in girl’s attire before we proceeded to Swami malai where son’s tonsure to take place. She advised us to take a photo (in black & white) before son’s head was shaved on the banks of overflowing river Kaveri. She guided us in this same manner, when my daughter was completing one year. She dressed my daughter like a boy. ( I posted this image in IL media)

She observed numerous Vratha for family well being and for my sister and me emerging with good grades in exams. The best one , I always remember is the one known as Sangada Hara Chathurthi in order to get scholarship and stipend which is narrated in

    Moon Boon Lord & Kozhukattai

One can write volumes as to affection and selfless nature of mother irrespective of whether it is reciprocated or not.

On that rainy day when Saraswathi Pooja was celebrated, She with her yellow thamboolam bag proceeded to see another elderly sumangali in her nineties to receive latter’s blessings. Somewhere she had a fall that landed her in hospital with hip socket fracture. Surgery was successful but after four weeks she breathed her last. She was 84.

The scene of sobbing of her regular auto driver and grocery shop owner after keeping the wreath at her dead feet cross my mind. I edit this through teary eyes.

It is said that God could not be present everywhere and so he had created Mother’s in Earth.

The commemoration of Mother and her day varies from Nation to Nation. On 14 th March
in UK , Second Sunday of May in majority of other countries that includes India & USA CELEBRATE Mother’s Day. The purpose is to remember more the selfless love and affection showered by mother on her children and in look after home and hearth without any expectation of award or and reward.

    Thanks and Regards.

That reminds me of my late dad’s statement in envy.
“ dear son, your mother has got a knack to make quick friends make it durable, useful, productive and use such friends only to enlarge her friend circle. For every one friend of mine, your mother had over ten. Besides, she got all rich friends like grand daughter of TVS, MINISTER neduchezian’s gynaecologist wife, school principal Malathi ......”

My dad used to be hesitant for asking lift but my mom just wave her hand and get the speeding vehicle which could even police van or a public transport.

The train from Varanasi to Delhi about to leave the platform. The compartment full with ticket less and people without reservation as passengers . She engaged the services of a coolie (porter) who physically lifted dad and took him inside the compartment fought and got the reserved seat aggressed by someone. Mom followed behind the coolie into her seat!
