Another lazy lockdown weekend day. I was just awake and not in a hurry to get up. Had met the deadlines and had got a breather for a couple of days. I could hear the TV from the next door. As usual, they had kept the volume a notch up to accommodate the elders. Just as I was deciding about whether to wake up or try to sleep for some more time, I heard the jingle. A very familiar tune. What stopped me were the words. For a life full of positivity, health and ease it said. That seemed to be the tag line. And then the next jingle began. The tune of the previous jingle and the words kept playing in my mind. The jingle was quite familiar, but I was unable to recall the product. What is that product that could give you positivity, health and ease?

That brought an end to my desire to continue the sleep. I went through my morning routines, put up a simple breakfast together and sat down in the balcony with the newspaper in my hand. The jingle continued to taunt me and I mentally began to list down the products that could go with the tagline. Could it be a healthdrink, some kind of super food, a yoga retreat, some special furniture brand? After the futile effort, I tried to search the source of the jingle. I switched on the TV and not really watching it went on with the regular cleaning of the house. When even after around 40 mins of non-stop TV the jingle didn’t figure, I tried different channels.

Soon, I lost my patience. I just switched it off and went ahead with my chores. As the day wore on, the jingle was never far away from my mind and just hovered around me as an invisible wisp of vapour. Soon it was evening. I decided to step out for a quick shopping. That proved to be quite a distraction and for a while I had completely forgotten my quest for the unidentified jingle.

As I reached my floor, I could hear the beginning of the jingle from the same neighbour’s house. I knew by the time I entered my house and even managed to switch on the right channel, the jingle will be over by then. So, I just dropped my shopping bags in the corridor right where I stood and pretended to tie my shoe lace. And then I got the answer – Branded spoons from Sunshine, for a life full of positivity, health and ease. Uh, really?

:hello:I enjoyed the spoons full. Quite a relaxed read. Simple & sweet. Kudos to your writing skills and ability to weave a story on seemingly insignificant thing.

Many jingles of the past, surfaces once in a while but stays at the back of the mind but refuses to come to vocal chords.

It is all jingles all the way.
It is both ways. Sighting a product one recalls a jingle heard in radio or viewed in Tv. The flavour of kitchen products such as asafoetida too reminds me of the jingle that announces the brand and product.

It is always delectable When such jingle comes from neighbourhood. It alerts us to time. It acts sometimes as triggers. It propels us to do something connected to jingle-product. Could serve as a reminder too.

The melody of few seconds on screen or and in radio makes one think at least at that moment about agility, enthusiasm and exercise regimen, energy boosting Bournvita, Horlicks and so on. A variety of jingles cross the mind as we recall the products like saridon, cough syrup, jewelleries, sweets and even cleaning agents.

    Thanks and Regards.

Thank you sir for that encouraging feedback. I see you are an active member in many forums. I have been a member here for long, but not a frequent visitor. I just trespass every now and then.
I also saw your comments about my dp. Interesting interpretations. My purpose was simple - feminism, woman power, liberation of the soul.
