My baby is turning 7 month old in a week. She doesn't sleep through the night yet. the most she sleeps is 5 hours. Then cries, I pick her up and feed her. I switch from breast feeding to bottle and back and forth as necessary since she is in day care and I work full time. Her routine is like this, wakes up around 6.30 am, H or I drop her to daycare with 3 bottles of BM, pick her up around 5, she goes to bed at 7pm. Wakes up around 12am, 4.30am. There will be additional wake ups depending on if we are dealing with any sicknesses or not. Sometimes for no reason she wakes up and plays for couple hours. She doesnt eat much solids, may be a teaspoon or two. She is on her growth chart, doc is happy with her progress. And recommended I could take her off from night feedings. Now, she cries really loud, it easy for me to put her to bed if I feed her. How can I sleep train her? i dont mind her waking up around 4.30. but this 12am or 1 am is brutal. Any tips would be helpful. My older one was very easy. She slept through the night from 3 months.

I did read stuff on whattoexpect.com and other websites. Didn't help much.

I think too early to stop night feedings for 7 month old baby, As she sleeping 7pm. at till least 1 year. , can you make her drink milk, when you go to bed like 9 or 10 pm, so next 5 hours you get uninterupted sleep?

Since she is sleeping at 7 pm I would do a dream feed at 10 pm - which would make her skip the 12/1 am wake up and give you a longer stretch to sleep. I put my girl to bed at 8 30 9pm and dream feed at 11 pm before I go to bed . She doesn't wake until 5am which is when I am ready for her next feed plus a little charged up with a 5 6 hrs of sleep. Dream feeding is a technique I learnt through some FB support group and trust me works like a charm.

One more technique is - feeding in side lying position . I will DM you how it can be done . It should help you . I don't do that because my girl sleeps at a stretch but have seen many many ladies do that which helps them get some rest.

Yes at times she does wake up at 3 am . Not for hunger but her sleep is disturbed and wants to play but she is never entertained . We do either of the two

    1) Hubby puts her on his chest and put her back to sleep by patting her.
    2) Me n husband(or if I am sleeping with my mom, then my mom) sleep closer giving her less space to crawl or move and do not talk at all, no patting nothing . We pretend as though we are sleeping and after 30 mins I notice she will be in deep sleep.

She cries loud because she needs your comfort and knows that mumma will offer feed . Let your husband take over for a few days initially and pat her back to sleep . She will get into the tune and stop waking up.
What I meant to say here is if she's fed at 10 10pm then she should skip the 1am feed.. If she still wakes up your husband can pat her back to sleep.

I dream feed her when I go to bed without waking her. I have consulted her doc, she has gained enough weight to the point where night feedings are not required.

Tried this. She would still wake up. What I noticed is she is not drinking milk, but falling asleep at the breast. Take her off, she wakes up again. She wakes only for the comfort.
I tried this a few times. Will try more. right now, she sleeps in her own crib, not in my bed.

Seriously! A soon to be 7m old baby gained enough weight already and you want to stop feeding at night :)
You pick her at 5PM and she is done for the day at 7PM! I salute the baby :)

You waking up early, working throughout the day and having a disruptive sleep is not that easy to handle.
Give her few more spoons of solids before bed. Try soothers and let the father do some parenting at night. Also co-sleeping should help.
