    How old are you?
As you get close to 40's, it can get heavy. I am in early 40s and i get heavy periods with severe pain to that i can not stand and get pressure on my organs like before delivery. Also I have to take pain killers for first 2 days/2 times to get by my day with kids.
I am also becoming bit OCD with dirtiness and smell. One more thing - I feel my smell sense suddenly because strong around periods and i also feel smell everyday and spray a lot. Smell could be discharged which increases after deliveries and age as per my doctor.

My periods are lasting from 9 -12 days (even though 8-12 its pretty light).. that is the reason for the laundry post too.. waiting till the end of periods so I can put all my clothes in washing machine is making them dry up.. they don't feel clean even after washing.. I don't have the energy to wash in washing machine in between periods as I'm spending way too much time washing hands and in the bathroom already.. during periods and feeling tired. Sheesh..

And now I feel like what if underwear is touching jeans somewhere ....so I'm wearing another shorts inside so jeans will be definitely clean.. and I need to hand wash shorts (later when I have the energy).. So now jeans I can put in washing machine as they are definitely clean.. Doing this for 12 days is like 24 pairs of clothes.. I'm overwhelmed..

And moreover during changing even though I'm careful to remove it ..while putting a clean pad on and trying to make sure it is fitting comfy I am touching stained part of underwear.. so I feel dirty to touch shorts and jeans so again handwashing before touching shorts.. and once more after wearing jeans. I'm driving myself crazy.. I just wish I could remember what I did all these years...(somewhere along the way I confused myself.. sorry.. I know this sounds ridiculous..)

Out of millions of ladies viewing this forum.. hoping at least one person will help me find relief.. to this issue. I would assume at least one lady would have gotten all the questions I am getting and faced similar situation and got a solution.

Have a doctors appointment fixed.. but need to wait 2 months.. Thanks for listening to me.. and bearing with me:) Just an attempt to find a solution:) No hard feelings and hope I am not irritating anyone.

Please think about consulting a Cognitive Behavior Therapist or a therapist along with your gynecologist

Every 3-4 hours change the sanitary pads. Try this famine wash or any of your choice twice a day during periods.
Vagisil pH Balance Wash - 12 fl oz

Try these scented pads to control the period-time odor.

Or try these disposable underwear/diapers. You can use these as a diaper as well as a sanitary pad. You don’t have to worry about your underwear, shorts, and jeans getting period stains.

Try these small scented diaper/sanitary pad disposable bags to dispose of used sanitary pads. It might help you to reduce your worries about smelly bathrooms. Just take a fresh bag every time and put your used sanitary pad in it, tie it and toss it in the bathroom trash can.

I use these deodorizing balls in my shoe closet it really helps. Just throw this in your laundry basket which helps to defuse the dirty laundry smell. You don’t have to worry about the smell till you do your laundry.

Instead of washing your hands always try these antibacterial wipes for few days and see. Hope these wipes help you to reduce the urge to wash your hands always.

Practice meditation and breathing exercises or yoga daily at least 20 minutes which helps to reduce anxiety and helps to relax your mind. Note down all the things like when do you feel to wash your hands, what triggers, your moods, everything and discuss with your doctor.

Get your blood work related to kidney and liver function and talk to your doctor. For time being till you visit your doctor use these.

Its possible that the doc may put you on low dose oral contraceptive pills to regulate the cycle and bleeding. You may get some relief. Of course, you shouldn't delay that appointment and get yourself checked... My cousin faced a similar issue, but she is very young. She got relief only after taking OCPs for a long duration.
