Modern-day slavery, child labor has been used not just in the leather and textile industry, mica, gold, and other precious metal mining, jeans manufacturers, still there are a lot of controversies problems, bad practices.

    True.
I don’t know sometimes I feel so angry on the system, legal process. Always weaker ones suffer.
6 years back I had got robbed at gun point, despite of having proofs and witnesses the culprit got punishment only 100 hrs of community service. I had to go through so much mental trauma.

Let us not forget that slavery has been around for a long time and slavery is alive and flourishing around the world in one form or other. We all know about the United States slave trade and the British empire expanding all over the world by dominance and slavery, we have all heard about brutal stories about slavery, here is a sample of how European rulers terrorized the Africans

In the 23 years (1885-1908) Leopold II ruled the Congo he massacred 10 million Africans by cutting off their hands and genitals, flogging them to death, starving them into forced labor, holding children ransom, and burning villages. Failure to meet the rubber collection quotas was punishable by death

Father stares at the hand and foot of his five-year-old, severed as a punishment for failing to make the daily rubber quota, Belgian Congo, 1904 - Rare Historical Photos.

You might think that slavery was in the past but it is alive in one form or other in USA (South Americans made to work with minimal salary as illegal immigrants), Indians working in Middle East, Malaysia, Singapore etc in construction with minimal wage or the cheap laborer from Bihar imported to work in Tamil Nadu in restaurants as cleaners or servers.

Within the family we see stories where MIL trying to mistreat the DIL and trying to dominate her or if there are multiple DL in the family how the MIL shows favoritism to the DIL that has more wealth.

And finally caste system that separates people as higher and lower class and openly discriminate people.

I am writing this not to desensitize you, but to create an awareness that if you need change; the change has to start from your own family, friends or your workplace and you have to make that change. If you see your mother mistreating your SIL do not blindly support your mom stand-up and say what you are doing is wrong to your mom, if you have a friend that speaks about caste tell them openly that what you are doing is wrong. If you don't start the change from where you are the world will never change.

These politicians will be ready to do any political stunt to grab vote irrespective of what party they are from. She could have fixed the problem by crating laws that will protect the migrant workers, a simple solution would have been to create a identity card and a NRI bank account and force the companies to deposit the salary in that account , and creating strict laws against agents that send people abroad; but none of the politicians want to do that, but they are ready to stunts like this to gain votes.

India is the largest receiver of foreign exchange in 2017 India received US$63.258 billion, the government is happy when they get foreign exchange but they don't want to protect or help the Indians abroad.

Though you have told about problems overseas the way one gets treated in India is absolutely miserable as well. I have had so many problems on so many issues and it’s not at all improved much but got worse. Everything is commercialised and the reason why many Indians are going abroad and willing to endure such hardships is because in India it is just worst. For example just to get into a school one had to seek admission with recommendations to get into a good school. Starting from there every public sector is rampant with corruption. No government department functions here without corruption. The system is so inefficient and delayed response for applications is not unheard of. To get even a delayed response one needs to bribe. Actually there are many things here which are forcing Indians out looking for greener pastures. They try to get out to make their lives better. Schools, health care, housing, judicial system and lots of things which are basic necessities are all fundamentally business oriented and corrupt here. Things have become so materialistic here and so often one wonders where it will lead to. For middle class people they try to go overseas somehow or other. Those who are less skilled try to go to Middle East or Singapore to earn money and send back. Life here has become so hard that people are basically going to these places inspite of the problems there. Actually everything here too is a nightmare. For wealthy people here it’s all fine. I am talking about middle and lower Middle class problems here.
