I do not know what to say. first i am really sorry to hear this. playing the devils advocate , what did he even think. family visa will take around 5 - 10 years to get GC.

now even if she comes brings 10 kids and take cash , i know she is looking for cash payments.

where those 10 kids will be all the time . who will take care, she completely by herself. did your spouse even think of these things. this is not a joke. is your spouse ready to deal with any legal issues or any child injury issue that can come . suppose a kid damages the stuff in home, who will pay. spouse or mil. what will happen if you are working hard and they make a lot of noise, will he go and calm them or mil.

handling 1 naughty son, drives my H mad. here 10.

wow. your spouse still looks like has not cut his umbilical cord.

If you want to prevent her from coming to the U.S., there is not much you can do.

For the babysitting thing, find out and keep handy how to report unlicensed babysitting. It varies from state to state. Check your state's limits for babysitting without a license and how to report violations. In particular, check if such violations will get the visitor visa revoked and hamper future GC processing.

As appealing as the prospect can be of her spending a night or two in the pokey, it needn't come to that. At a somewhat calm time, randomly bring up the topic and caution husband about neighbors who could report the unlicensed babysitting and how it can cause problems in visitor visa now or GC later.

As others said, even if your husband is a citizen your MIL isn't licensed to babysit...and if she brings 10 naughty kids into your home its additional work and headache for you...managing one kid is tough, for an elderly lady who maybe 50 or 60plus, managing 10 kids herself is a herculean task..she wouldn't be able to cope and you'd have to help out too and she would pocket the earnings and if any neighbour reports to authorities, all of you will be in trouble..
Use legal reason as a reason to discourage this

I think this entire idea is cuckoo but one person cannot watch 10 kids. Depending on the age of the kids the provider ratio is 1:4 or 1:6. And your homeowners insurance will go bye-bye if you have illegal daycare operating out of your house. One liability claim will bankrupt you.

    :smash2:.

just saw this thread again. my son has remote school, he yells from another room calling my H who is in serious meeting to pick the pencil he dropped on the floor . my H is shouting at top of his lungs to take of things when he is in school.

i do not know who to scold. H anger is valid, son is too attached to H, so he is always pushing his buttons, but immature about his responsibilities.

what will happen with 10. he might burn the house and go and submit to authorities.

this is wrong information, if you are a citizen you can file for your parents green card and they can get it within 6 months. Personal experience.

Even I was thinking same Family based GC backlog for India is lot. It’s quite a long time and have forgot about categories. I think parents come under F4 category?
Any ways this is what the current bulletin board. I see all countries queue quite long

Parents, spouses and minor children of US citizens are classified as immediate relatives and do not have quota or wait time to get green cards. They can immediately file I-485 if present in the US or go for consular processing if they are outside. You will not see them in the visa bulletin.
The visa bulletin family category is for spouses of green card holders, siblings of US citizens, adult children of US citizens etc. F4 is of siblings of US citizens and that is the most backlogged.
