I love coffee..our south Indian fllter coffee my absolute favorite...apart from that I love starbucks..
there was a time when I used to drink coffee after coffee..strong coffee two or three times a day!
I had lot of anxiety issues, headaches, energy depletes in the afternoon, insomina and high level stress..

I gave up on sugar and processed foods..well it helped with my weight but nothing worked for anxiety.

I was told maybe I was "caffeine sensitive".I am like..is that even real?Cannot imagine giving up on coffee! It is the only thing that calms me down!No way will I give that up..but then for the last one year..I tried to cut down my intake.

firstly, gave up on the sugar for coffee..
    secondly,reduced having coffee outside.
    third...cut down the quantity.
    foruth..only 2 times a day.
fifth..switched to tea in the afternoon..

    Lastly.."NONE OF THE ABOVE WORKED"..

I was like..nothing is working.so finally started having green tea.It is healthier but still has some amount of caffeine.finally, switched to decaf but it is debatable.still I did not acheive the results I wanted.

so for the past 10 days..I went COLD TURKEY!

First two days..it was not tough.expected withdrawal symptoms..nothing!good.
third day my energy levels went down..
I did not give up but started having herbal teas in hot water or just woke up to warm water.

    Now 10th day..I realized..

My dark circles under eyes have gone! as am sleeping well.
    My heart does not race!
    headaches ...gone!
I do not overthink. My mind is way way calmer!
    infact..i try hard to overthink:D
I am also very much in control of my emotions!

Apart from getting rid of caffeine,I also started to do things which I love with full interest, gave up on social media junk,I meditate first thing in the morning,I do yoga,am more accepting of what I am and finally...

I have developed the bhagawad gita mantra...
    "whatever happened,it happened well.
    whatever is to happen,will happen"

Making more lifestyle changes..giving up on expectations from others, avoiding toxic relations..everything seems to be working well.

Also,to add to it have been cutting down diary...which helps me..

    One thing guys..about my anxiety..

If the house is dirty or a mess...I FREAK OUT! I GET ANGRY WITH MY KID AND HUBBY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY I BURST TO TEARS! I feel like losing hope..

but these days when I see the mess around me,I just tell myself " RELAX" and smile:)I am more in control.Making a lot more lifestyle changes plus the way I speak to myself is more positive.I also listen to slokhas..all seems to help.

Very important change?I just do what I like and trying my best not to fit in.It's okay! I will be fine just what I am.I have made lot of mistakes in my life.so what?:) practicing acceptance..

I do not seek perfection anymore..

    Am I there?am I 100% okay? well nope!I won't lie.I still have anger and cannot forgive certain people,have a lot of baggage and yes..accept I can also be egoistic.I have flaws..real flaws.
But am doing much better.I want to be even better.

I just want to journal the above so that it can be beneficial to people like me who have anxiety and insecurities.Hope it helps!

Will journal more with my progression in the future threads.

    Love and Peace to all!:innocent:

I gave up filter coffee 3 yrs ago and it's been great. I decided not to have it for 4 years for some personal reasons. Anxiety definitely has reduced I must say but I don't give the credit entirely to coffee ....with age, we women become smart and come up with amazing coping mechanisms which we never expected even exist.

Anika, your other threads go to pages in 15 minutes. This took 15 days to move from unanswered. : ) Nothing... just a random arbit observation to show that I can count. : )

This comment made me log in before planned. : ) True. We become more discerning about handing out credit, blame and more creative about coping mechanisms.

@Rihana thanks for the 'special' stopping by on a long weekend !

Yes, from my experience , I can now gauge a person even in a long distance call, their aura, what kind of energies they intend to transmit. Having said this, my mind automatically filters how much to take and how much to edit. No point in taking whatever nonsense they dish out and feeling overwhelmed about it.

My biggest self-taught lesson (which I feel so proud that I discovered - because it makes me feel empowered) is that I classify my problems/issues into 4 sub-categories - Controllable, Uncontrollable, Whether it is due to a person or circumstances. Then I rule out the odds and come up with a tangible solution.

More on this later.....if @anika987 if ok to be told on her caffeine thread

I can gauge quite a bit from the pauses between their consecutive WhatsApp messages and the backspac'ing. : ) ok partially exaggerating here.

Aah that automatic filter state of the mind... time teaches one whatever one needs...

You do have reason to be proud.. that sounds like from a self-help book. I missed a few boats and busses in this discovery process. By the time I cobbled up a few methods, I was up to my elegant eyebrows in a few totally avoidable energy drainer situations. So, my intuitive methods now are along the lines of a silent F(for fantastic!) You after I am done with the call/chat. Or an actual shrug. Along with a ruthless editing out of people and events that don't help.

Oh in anika's threads everything goes. Even if anything gets too off track or heated or anything, she will deftly adroitly skillfully effortlessly nimbly dexterously step around it. Our anika is like that vonly. : )

    ============
A few years ago, I gave up tea and coffee. Cold turkey. Had the mother of all headaches for a whole week. Didn't give in. The 10th day was bearable. At the two weeks mark, I was updating everyone except on FB : )
