    Hello,
I worked 3 years before marriage and then soon after marriage I got pregnant and took a 4 years leave... Then again when I started working aI got pregnant again.. My kids don't sleep at night they sleep at 4am .. This happened with both my kids .. So I resigned again.. Now its been more than 2 years since I worked.. Trying for jobs but no luck at all.. Everyone keeps asking about the gap.. f

I'm really getting depressed..How to get back into the work force again? I worked in IT.

I worked before 8 years not in IT and was able to find some jobs but timings do not work and pay was too less..so let it go now..i understand the fear even I did but when I see people around me doing it..gives hope.

recently came to know a relative who found some job even after kids went to college!she has never worked before! Again this is not IT.

At the same time, have seen people get back to work in IT even in India after years.how they did it..I don’t know but I personally know of a lady who got back in IT after 7 years!:)

Just wanted to say this coz definitely you will get it.It is only 2 years. This is COVID time so maybe could be tough..so relax for now and start in few months again.

maybe update with some course until know to put on your resume.

Other IL’s Will advice you better but not to worry.

    All the best:)

Don't worry you have a very less gap compared to most people I have known and maternity leave is commonly taken. You can alsways explain that you have to take care of your kids and took that option instead of starting work again.

My experience was, I did my second MAsters when I came here and really wanted to work and continue research but I got pregnant and my son was less than a month old when I gave my Masters defence. That was one tough time for me. My husband and I looked at the pros and cons of me working and leaving my kid in the daycare and all that stress and thought that it was not worth it, so I stayed home. Like you after 4 years my daughter was born and I still didnot continue looking for work.
Looking back now, those days spent with my little ones were precious and no amount of money can replace it. But now with one in Uni. and the other in high school, I would like to start work and so started volunteering in my daughters school to get some references. Thanks to covid that too has been put to a full stop. All though research work is much needed here, they still don't have any positions open. yes, it does upset me because I have too big a gap. But I am still trying my best for positions in hospitals. If asked about my work gap, I will not feel ashamed to say that I took care of my children and that mattered to me the most at that time.

So good luck and keep trying, in the mean time enjoy your time with your kids when they are young.

With this COVID job market slow everywhere . Don't lose hope. It takes time. As @madhat said you have less gap. A lot of my friends, colleagues with 6-8 years of gap went back to work. One of my colleagues at 43 started her 2 innings of career after 10 years of gap. I think the time has changed taking a career break is more common than we think, despite the stigma that is sometimes attached behind. Everyone has a different career ladder they climb at their own pace depending on what their goals are. Meanwhile, till the job market stabilizes try to update your skills. I don't know what is your technology but if you are interested there are a few free/discounted price Microsoft certifications available at present. Look for companies that offer career return programs. Refresh your skills, research industry trends, latest news in your technology.
Whether you have been away from work for 6 months or 2 years getting back into the hiring pool is nerve-racking. Be confident. Don't lose hope. Best of luck in your job search!

Try through recruiters. It may help although I have to mention it is not easy in the beginning (they will exploit on the pay). It is not easy working and looking after family as well with no other help. One needs to adapt quickly and also inculcate a routine for work, home and family. It is very important to climb the ladder early on to avoid stress.
