Which travel destinations do you think are overrated?

Name some and maybe tell us why.

Never too early to start planning for the first vacation after getting the Covid vaccine.

Niagara Falls: We went in spite of our east coast friends telling us not to. They suggested lesser known places within 2-3 hours of Niagara Falls that are more worth visiting. I didn't listen. Beeg mistake. Two solid days wasted.

Disneyland, Disney World: Took the kid when she was 5 or 6. After that, no one in our family will visit it even if we get paid to. : ) When guests want to go, we buy them tickets and give them park maps... maybe even drop them off at the park gates ...

Yellowstone National Park, USA: I still can't figure out why we were so disappointed. I have a feeling we didn't explore the right areas. If not, it is hard for us to be disappointed with even the smallest state or any other parks.

I think not worth. The Utah 5 national parks would be a better choice. Of course, these things are subjective.

Hahaha...about Niagara falls. It had been known for a long long time as the 2nd-disappointment-to-brides on honeymoon. The Canadian side is quieter, has better restaurants and overall lesser of the disappointments of the two.

I went on about where I like to go and why Taipei/Taiwan, when corona is gone... and had to delete... will come back later.

London: Horrible city to visit. Couldn't understand what people say. And besides, many service people in hotels and restaurants are downright rude.

Venice - that water stank and I refused to get into the boat. I love Italy and everything about history, art and architecture in Italy but Venice was a let down. Never felt that way about any other vacation I’ve taken.

    Switzerland !!
Don't get me wrong - I loved Switzerland, the snow, the mountains, the music everywhere, the Gruyere cheese, the watches and of course, the bell ! It was heaven on earth! It was a feast to the eyes!

But But within 6 months, I went to the Himalayas, Kedarnath, Valley of flowers and Badrinath...
And I realized what I was missing in Switzerland... Life! Prana!
The Gods themselves lived in the Himalayas - the helpful & kind people, tiny thin grass next to tall imposing trees, the burst of colours, the sounds of the Ganges dancing and weaving her way restlessly, the various beasts of burden and majestic birds!
It was a feast to my soul!

After the Himalaya trip, I started wondering why did I even visit Switzerland... I could have seen some Yash Chopra movie and been done with it !

Driving the length of Route-66 is a nice holiday. Especially relevant when you are still trying to socially isolate your family from the general public, even though you are all vaccinated. However, this could be a horrible torture for people who do not care about the history and the background of this road trip in USA.

At the time we lived in a Chicago suburb. Lots of desi's live there; we even have a few temples. A relative "aunty" came to USA to visit her son who was a graduate student at CalTech. I had always wanted to drive Route-66 to the west coast. So, after she slept a couple of weeks, went to all the local temples, etc.. we did a road-trip.

In just two or three days, she was thoroughly bored by the "sameness" of it all. Poor thing! One needs the knowledge of the songs, and the sthala-purana-background of route-66 to be interested in such a long road trip. On the way back, we took the interstate highway. She slept most of the way back also.

Like many desi's who had visited America, she too would report the country to be a total bore, and a waste of time, a punishment for those parents who married off their daughters to USA-NRI's or sent their sons to college there.

Yellowstone is gorgeous! I would move there for an entire year if I could.
