    I am living in India...
Very surprised and shocked at the carelessness of people partying and going on vacations despite the Pandemic..
Few of my known cousins and friends of my age group and older, have happily gone on picnics, some have travelled out station on vacation...
In all their vacation pics and videos no social distancing and no mask usage is followed...
All these are public tourist spots , not some private residence...
Many are in high risk group, I.e some their small kids with them, atleast two of them were pregnant..
One relative took the elders of her family, her kid , husband for a vacation to one of the popular destination spot..and she herself was pregnant ...
My friend has thrown a big party for her child’s birthday and invited many relatives and friends..
One more friend got married recently and I saw the live footage...large number of guests attended and hardly 2 to 3 people wore masks..no social distancing.

Don’t know what these people are thinking...
Everyone assumes that the pandemic has ended and everything is normal again...
    I’m not judging anyone..
    But just wondering..
What makes people to take huge risks like this? Without any safety precautions? That too now that the new strain of corona has spread in many places and contact tracing Is still not done?
    Just wondering.
( Please do not ask me what my Christmas and year end plans are..it’s just the same household chores everyday without any rest or relaxation and entertainment and adjusting with in laws...how i wish the pandemic never happened so I too could have gone on a holiday trip).

There are people who don’t care about others and put themselves and others at risks. This year just staying at home for all festivities. That’s what we are doing. Not attending any functions.

Good decision.. we also had low key celebrations for all festivals and dint even visit temples...our relatives who were equally cautious kept their functions only within immediate family members ..we haven't attended any functions since march...no plans to attend any even if invited.

True, I too noticed above scenario through videos of celebrities and common peoples' wedding, birthday and Christmas functions. Even politicians and govt officials aren't observing covid rules/guidelines.
I think they have immense trust on their immune system. They have feeling of if they get infected also, They will recover easily.
Anyways, That is their wish and just ignore them. Just follow What you have been doing all these months. Stay safe!

    Yes..
I’m off late noticing some recklessness among people whom I know..they’re taking this pandemic very lightly and think they’re some supernatural beings blessed with 100% immunity against all microbes..not just Coronavirus..they also are under a mistaken assumption that the virulence of coronavirus is increasing...though recently the new strain has been found to be more virulent...

Man is a social animal and people crave for socialising in one way or another. That`s why they ignore the real warnings and dangers. I want to mention one different perspective. If you are more instrospective, social cravings will be less. My 2 cents.

In America we had been inundated with conspiracy theories....of all sorts. Why would someone expose the elderly (in-laws?) at home to risky behavior, when the whole world is warning against such things ?
Your question made me look up the legal consequences of such a behavior:
Coronavirus: Can I Be Liable for Getting Someone Else Sick?

    True...
I'm perfectly happy not socializing with anyone...
During pre covid time , just for sake of politeness and niceties I had to socialize with relatives whom I disliked...
This is one good opportunity to avoid such situations...
Also everyone is at risk...if we meet someone and later we find they are unwell , it is unnecessary tension for us and the very thought of covid would make us feel nauseous and feverish even if we are ok...thankfully I also know many sensible people who are extra cautious not to put themselves or their family members in risk...
