I have an ultra wet grinder that is on its way out. The grinding stones are almost completely worn down. I was looking for a replacement on Amazon and surprisingly the ultra wet grinder did have quite a few bad reviews. Has anyone got it on Amazon? Is it the same as the Indian ultra grinder? Is the timer a good feature?

I got mine from India. The store rewound it to 110 volts so I can plug it in to my regular outlet and so far it has worked really well.

I also am seeing another option, the tilting kind. Does anyone have that? Is it better than the ultra grinder? I like the fact that the batter can be removed by tilting the grinder instead of lifting and pouring.

Any inputs? I do use it once or twice a week and require a workhorse!

I got a ultra wet grinder 1.25 ltr from Amazon works well.
My friend got a premier table top 1.5 ltr from Amazon works good.
2 more friends got Ultra ,2 lts from Amazon. No bad reviews from them as well.
You can get a warranty on ultra for 1 yr.
    No idea on tilting one.

I don't know about these brands but I used to find the tilting option very useful back in the days when I was grinding batter at home. It was easier to get the batter out of the bowl.

    Hi Laks,

I recently purchased a tilting one ( brand is Vijayalakshmi) and found it to be very convenient. Because earlier I always had to depend on my husband to lift the stones, empty the content n put it to wash. Now I do it myself. Once the batter is ready I empty the contents by tilting and then pour water n leave it. Have instructed my maid to remove n clean it n put it back. It's very convenient .
This brand is supposed to be very old and after a suggestion from a friend that they used that for around 16 years I purchased it and so far happy.
The shopkeeper did promise that I can safely wash it in dw I'm skeptical to keep these heavy weights in the dw. I don't want to dw racks to break because of this.

Thanks for chiming in Vedhavalli. I’ll try to purchase one with the square trade warranty. Thank you for suggesting that. I had forgotten about Amazon’s warranty.
I was surprised with all the negative ratings. I’m wondering if people only left FB when something went wrong.

I read a few reviews about how useful the feature is but seems like the one available on amazon isn’t the best brand. Multiple people have commented about how that tilting button itself gets stuck.I have a store nearby that sells these things. I can’t go in because of covid but I’m thinking of biting the bullet and going in to check it out.

I’ve heard about Vijalakshmi too @Deepsmara. Unfortunately, it’s not on amazon US. I’ll go into the appliance store near my place and check if they have this brand. Thanks for posting. I had forgotten about it.

I have the first one ultra wet grinder and got it from Amazon. It works well. Timer is definitely a big plus as the grinder beeps 2 minutes before the time is going to run out and also multiple beeps few seconds before it stops. Helps as we don't have to keep an eye on the clock.

Don't get the coconut scrapper attachment along with it ( its a separate product, but I got interested and got it ). Its worthless. Ultra Perfect+ & Perfect S Wet Grinder Coconut Scraper Attachment. I used it couple of times and gave up on it.

You can also try this, ships from
    Illinois.

Elgi Ultra Wet Grinder 110 Volts (USA & Canada) Stone Wet Grinder

Price seems lower than amazon. They were responsive when i reached out for availability. But then I changed my mind about buying an Ultra.. is it just me or have any of you had issue with the top bar unlocking when you start grinding, it hit my hand and I decided to go back to my tried and tested premier wonder.

Tilting wet grinder is easy to pour and clean. I had used it in India, but not here in US.Further you need not lift anything heavy. It is space saver also.
