The first dent of a new car is the most impressionable in the minds of the owners. In one Seinfeld episode* getting that first ding when driving the car out of the showroom was compared to the new bride getting pregnant (& the ensuing body damage!) on the suhaag raat [wedding night].

*Seinfeld is a serial drama that was on American Television.

Moved from "What has your spouse done that you cherish the most" thread..

Talking about a fantasy-composit bloke with a list of quality criteria...
And eventually the girl (sets aside that fantasy-composit list &) joins the world of realities, and settles with/for? a bloke who will fall short in so many ways. That bloke will go on to live a life feeling fortunate ever after. When so overwhelmed, there isn't any way he could choose any one or few things for an internet response on cherish.
Hypothesis: Happily married blokes (...skip a whole list of things here, including making, and launching a few well adjusted adults in to the world.....) know how much their whole life depended on the wife. That overwhelming feeling cannot easily condense, and the situation is worse yet for blokes who started off with a list of handicaps. No wonder blokes are dumb founded :expressionless: to say something about their chérie or what they chérish.

:) Yes; fondly-r' is a moat they could cross easier. Cherish is too deep, and foreign too.

Do people get inhibited by prior responses of others ? Incapacity for oneup(wo)manship could result in a pass.

Hope so, Hopi, hope so! :grinning: Thank you!

But looks like the longevity genes on both sides have decided to try skipping a generation. : ) Hence all those kewstins about leaving all to spouse in will or not, sharing medical yada yada with folks in India... wagarah wagarah... Let's see. All we can do is eat right, exercise, vote right and take the vaccine. : ) : )

Got them couple of print Nolo books - Trustee's legal companion for Living Trusts and the Executor's guide for will stuff. I was giving each a brief overview 1-1 and vedhavulu rascals more interested in how much money they might get. : ) j/k..interested in a curiosity way, not mercenary..

Jokes aside, it took quite some weekends, but writing down some guidelines for what to do in the immediate few hours, day one, day two, week one and so on is a good thing to do esp. if the kids are barely adults or no family nearby / in the country.

Albeit no connection to "relationships", moved this post here. May I point out that there are only 6 or less connections for any subject-matter and to relationships.
Another layer of cloth across the chest does not really cancel the fact of a girl in the outfit, but the non-functional duppattah had been the cause of the south indians not adapting to the S-Kameez or churidar outfits for the longest time. Saree it was, no matter how slim or fat, and whether you can carry it off well enough or not.
Two wheeler riding (duppattah becoming a dust mask), and hot summer sun (hijab-adaptation) had helped to introduce that style in the south.

And now :BangHead:, like how new converts are ultra-rabid than those who had grown up with the religion/culture, the South Indian aunties are going out of their homes in a nightie, thinking that it is only a longish churidar without the duppattah, which is never used for what it was intended for: not disturb:flushed: the menfolk.

I know how that is..... we must do the best we can. The next-gen know this, but can never articulate. When they move away from home, they miss the unsolicited advisories more than we miss their shenanigans.

Once again... :worship2: We never got around to such things, even though we talked about it in wee hours of the morning, because one of us had an early flight (&alarm to wake up) for business travel. Airplane travel, no matter how the statistics compares that to driving on the road, makes people think up weird stuff. Like Kaavya Viswanathan story.

It was not easy to find out what happened to Kaavya. Somehow she had disappeared, inspite of google, fb and so on.

Thanks for sharing. In recent times (no work, homebound, masking to receive deliveries at the door) I also go on sidetracks a lot, and enjoy what I see or read.

While on that thread about Doctor J, the one with the Ed.D. from Delaware, I watched a few old basketball videos from Philadelphia, not too far from Delaware. Of another Dr.J who never asked anyone to call him doctor, but everyone did.
