We had an order from our ped to get an xray of the hip done for my daughter. After discussing a couple of options on where it is safe to go due to COVID we chose to walk in a popular facility in our area. It was unfortunate when we heard from the doctor the xray was not done properly and ideally my daughter had to be daiaper off . I specifically asked for this during xray but the person doing xray said that it is not required . We spoke to a couple of doctors and everyone told us the xray is just fit to be in trash bin!! The procedure cost us around 1k$. Since this is a mistake on their side I feel it a joke paying the out of pocket cost for the xray.Is there a way out to not pay the put of pocket cost?

Of course there should be a way. And don't think of it as "escaping" from paying. You didn't get the service that you (and your insurance) paid for.

Usually in such cases, the doctor or her assistant gets in touch with the x-ray place and tells them to redo the x-ray. Looks like that was not the case here.

The steps to follow in such situations are to document all interactions, keep a paper trail as much as possible, remain polite, when they try to fob you off with vague statements ask to speak to someone higher up. Generally all these will fail. What works is to contact the top management (executive contacts).

Check out Elliott Advocacy - Here to help For people living in the U.S., this is a very useful website. Go through the website, in particular the Company Contacts menu. Read through a few stories of how Elliott Advocacy has helped people. This gives a good idea of what to do in any situation to do with bad service or not getting a refund. I read his column in the Sunday newspaper weekly. : ) The trick is to be polite, persistent, patient (but not for too long) and maintain a paper or email trail. If phone, at least note down first and last name of who we talk to.

    One example:
Need help with Quest Diagnostics? Here's what our research team can do for you - Elliott Advocacy

I hope it gets resolved soon. We used that website a few times. Contacting the top executives works like magic. Dh tells me that should keep the email very polite, to the point, and include emotion plus the suffering experienced but keep it "professional." Don't "scold" them.

Are they insisting you pay or will they do a repeat X-ray to compensate? Your doctor should let them know that the results as they were done cannot be interpreted and that the standard method was not followed.

    Thank you @Rihana.

Valid points! Noted !! I am going to try the being patient way. Honestly with covid and an infant this should have not happened at a well known facility.

Nothing yet. They did not come back saying they will schedule it ine more time. However my Doctor told me he can help me with a letter saying the xray did not have any outcome .With that i am thinking tk do the follow ups.
