They say that elusive way to the man’s heart is via yummy food. They meant it as a two way street. I love a good lunch made by DH. Sometimes, I’m not in the mood to eat anything I cook or anything ordered. Those days he whips up something so that I’ll eat and that’s definitely a dhak dhak moment.

Thanks to posting in this thread and reading posts, for the past two weekends, I have not been able to be properly mad at him for egregious end-of-the-year offences. : ) It is hard to remain mad for long when also recalling cherish-worthy gestures from the past. I guess the rose bushes pruned way too early will bloom again... offence forgiven......

The deer in the headlights look he had a few hours after our first child was born.. I was just regaining consciousness and he was torn between being with me or to the NICU to glance yet again from the glass window and make sure the name tag was still on, and so on. : ) And then, I yelled at him for being near me instead of near the baby. : )

For all the threads in Reln that rue an unromantic husband, here we are.. finding that gestures like taking care of us when we are sick, tired or after childbirth are among those we remember the most.

Ditto. Starting this thread is making me think of all the long forgotten gestures. I’m not focusing on the weekend work calls as much :)

Maybe caring and sharing is valued more than other gestures. But I’m not going to tell my DH that right now. I haven’t seen my Christmas gift package come yet :grimacing:

since the beginning of me going to work here in the U.S after i returned from my last india trip 4.5 yrs back until last year my H would drive me to the work and when possible pick up as well.i used to go very early in the morning and most of the days he would wake up to drop me which could be like 3.30am / 4am and then come back to take a nap and then leave for his work. this in spite of him being a very light sleeper . after baby came along he would even carefully bundle baby for the ride even on bad east coast winter days . i would many times force him to not come and i would take uber whenever i could but he did it for the most part. when baby was less than an year old i had to travel for little less than a week and he alone took care of the baby . before baby was born we had very rough patches in our relationship (its not that great even now) but still he did that. but when ILS were here he would directly tell me that he cant come as his parents wont like ... what a change :expressionless:

its one of my biggest struggles to get comfortable driving ...i hope it works out next year atleast.

That’s such an awesome gesture. I can’t imagine going to work so early, CIB. You are so dedicated! Your DH waking up that early to drop you off during the winter months is something to be cherished. Especially with baby in tow.

I’m thankful to covid for giving a lot of people the opportunity to work remotely and avoid commute. Enjoy your commute free days!

thank you .... also after baby came he would only get her ready in the morning and drop her at the day care everyday before going to work because i wont be home by then... and my baby has this special habit of throwing up or pooping just when you are all ready and about to step out of the door which would always add up to his morning chores but he did it with no complains.

:hello:I hope this post would be like a breath of fresh air. All wives have said about MOMENTS THEY HAD WITH their RESPECTIVE DH. Here a bloke tells quite opposite. Hope sisters would tolerate and endure reading this.

Spouse & I then just begun our married life few months ago in a single but a large room in a flat.

It was sunny Sunday summer. I returned from market with veg & groceries. Unpacked and displayed partly on rack and partly on cooking platform.

She unpacked an item rolled in from a recent page of TImes of India news paper. She kept aside the cashews and as usual start reading the somewhat crumpled news paper.

She lifted her head from paper telling endearingly “you are applying for this post” . I read it and found the post exactly Taylor-made for me.

Fortunately, the last date for applying two weeks ahead. I got prescribed application & applied. In three months, I began enjoying my new career that I got to start from a clean slate.

After that there was no looking back. Career progression was excellent with couple of lucrative deputations in prestigious institutions.

Here I am retired with handsome monthly pension.

I owe my peace, finance and happy family, settled children all to my spouse. Her timely suggestions helped me in ways that one could never imagine.

I narrated few moments of such events in our life this far which I cherish in threads of which two are:

Spouse & I - Ship In Unchartered Territory

Spouse & Me In Chanting Mode

    Thanks and Regards.
