Hi All, Recently I ordered Millets , oils( bull driven oil and Millet flours from a store in India. I have been getting these stuffs from last 2 years and never had a problem. The seller has a valid license.This time around I had a friend who also wanted to place the order and we did for around 45kgs. However I have received one package thag had millets and flours. The customs has detained another box that contained oil and ragi flour. Anyway iyt that i could place an enquiry with customs n talk to them about why the shipment was detained and try to explain them with valid proof ?
I recently had some medicines stuck at US customs for a couple of months. It eventually did get to us. I got to know that some others (who were also waiting on medicines from India) got a *request* for some additional documentation from US customs. Once they sent the docs, they were able to receive their items. In my case, we didn't get such a request so we just waited it out.
How long has the package been in customs? I once had a box of clothes sit there for 2 weeks and then it was released without any explanation.
Ah ok i agree with the medicines. When you get them everytime customs does an extra check. But with millets?N food related stuff ? I dont get the point here.
Its been there last 2 weeks. I am not sure whats going on? Is there a way out to know the exact reason by any chance so i will be able to explain them with supporting docs?
I heard from my friend consignment of Indian brand pickles too get stuck in customs warehouse for weeks on end! In flights too carrying pickle bottle suspected. Just my 2 cents.
