It is an accepted fact that India is one of the oldest and most venerable civilizations in the world. Its culture is not a fundamentalist religion trying to conquer the world but represents a vaster and more cosmic vision. Also, India has given birth to the main religions that have dominated East Asia historically, the Hindu, Buddhist, Jain and Sikh, which are noted for tolerance and spirituality.

Vivekananda, didn't go to west to become famous, those days it was actually a taboo for Hindus to cross the ocean. He was sad on seeing the colonial India in it worst ,sliding from a glorious rich heritage, chose to go past that taboo to let the world know about the greatness of eastern philosophy , the oneness of all beings it asserts on an international platform for religions. We need to focus more on the cause rather than glorify the person, which the swami himself was against..!

When every country is proud and protective of their cultures, customs, traditions etc. we are not....having lost our self esteem, criticising ourselves, wanting to ape west. Don't we always do that? Whatever the west agrees to is right, anything western is definitely the best (until I have teenaged daughter who wants to date) .My personal opinion is that after being a source of cheap labour for the west for a very very long time, Indians themselves suffer from Indophobia , with local contribution in a great manner.

I repeat...not only Hinduism, but all religions have orthodoxy, rituals, festivals & traditions etc. even bizarre superstitions..! More than the caste system, the current major issue all over the world being racism, shrinks and closes hearts as well as borders. From a borderless world in the beginning, the intellectual growth of the human species has enabled division in the name of the above said creations of the mind. Values are common across the world and if they are upheld there is no need for religion or spirituality for the common man. No... not even borders.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback which makes me to think twice. Here is my take ()

(I totally agree that orthodoxy is not the sole preserve of Hinduism. All societies and communities suffer from it. Casteism and racism are equally dangerous, not in bloodshed but in hatred. All said and done, as someone said, if there was no God, we would have invented him anyways.)

The moot question is about religion and spirituality or religiously spiritual or spiritually religious.

The human intellectual curiosity is a never ending process. There are many theories about the evolution of human species, and the development of brain, intellect exclusive to it, ideas, inventions and what not. God, religion, philosophies as well as all its derivatives etc are such ideas like tools, money, developed into products and adopted to suit the developing needs, physical, emotional or intellectual. It is more like each generation taking up a product or idea and develops it further to suit its own requirements. Being abstract, they can be confusing and it is up to the person concerned to understand it,( like the modern art )to use or lost it /develop it further, package it ,either share/ market it .....(from ancient to modern gurus):sunglasses:!!!!.
