//I think considering all facts the Rajapakshe government is trying to integrate these next gen Tamils into the main stream//
Nothing can be further from the truth.

You must be living in a bubble there are millions of example of injustice based on religion, language, caste etc etc in India according to you everyone should be fighting with arms to get justice

    Here is a sample

Under India's caste system, Dalits are considered untouchable. The coronavirus is intensifying that slur - CNN

    Dalit - Wikipedia

Should the Tamil people start fighting with arms because the central government is forcing Hindi on Tamils ?

Here is a sample from USA

@SGBV actually you kept on saying repeatedly that we don't know anything about srilankan war and ours was one sided argument hence she would have posted the videos. You provoked people knowingly or unknowingly. No one wants to revisit these. But expecting people to forget who was responsible for the whole thing and downplaying the roles got us.

Do you think protests aren't happening for all these? Every single thing you quoted created an uproar. Its you who are living in the bubble. You were talking about asking for separate country and my reply was for that. I have clearly mentioned war is not the solution because peace talks were futile the war was waged. No one here is denying that injustice prevails in tbe world. But the creators of the injustice shouldn't be hailed as heroes or any steps towards that process need to be questioned. This is what some of us are trying to say.

You clearly don't want to see the atrocities or have decided to walk past it. Whereas some of us can't. If you treat the citizens of the same country as second grade and are not ready for peace talks then one is left with little choice.

    Very true!!!

I think Tamils in general were conditioned to support LTTE and their arm conflict by the majority Tamils living in Tamil Nadu. Perhaps, this is what portrayed in the media, and political parties as a whole. Unfortunately the voice of Tamil Nadu is huge compared to us in numbers, so that is what heard outside.
None of my Tamil friends outside of Sri Lanka accepted my view points as neutral; hence questioned my identity.
Either they suspected me as a Sinhalese or a pro government fellow.

But this is fortunately not the case within Sri Lanka. The majority of the Sri Lankan Tamils (including those Estate tamils, who have received sri lankan citizenship lately) live outside of the Northern Province (LTTE controlled area). They mingle very closely with other communities (Sinhalese, Muslims etc). Fortunately most of our life setting is multi-ethnic from the beginning.
We have our own political opinions, and that is not necessarily pro-LTTE.
FYI- In Sri Lanka, we have a huge Tamil population in Eastern Province, Central province and Western Province including the Capital city Colombo. But as a whole, the Tamil population living in the country is very small compared to the Majority Sinhalese, which is roughly 11:75

Although I belong to the Northern province of Sri Lanka (my parents were born in Jaffna), I lived in Colombo and elsewhere since birth. My life style and exposure has modified my thought process; thus I am able to think neutral.

I always admire the way how it has transformed in Rwanda. I lived in Rwanda a few years back, and I know how similar their arm conflicts to ours, but look at them now. 25 years down the line, they live in peace towards development.
The LTTE were over confident, and had several internal factions which caused them the defeat. But one must agree to the fact that they were so well organized, and very powerful master minds until the last ceasefire agreement in 2001.
With ceasefire, their youth got to cross their borders after 20 years and explore the real world for the first time in 2001. This disoriented them and demotivated their passion to win Tamil Eazham. Instead, they wanted normal life like any youth living in the country.
This is where some of them believed they have been used by their leaders; hence the factions happened. Many ran away from LTTE and fled the country too. Hence the need for forced recruitment & torture as reported in the UN report.
Earlier, youth voluntarily joined LTTE and even wished to become human bombs for their Eazham dream. In contrast, the next generation had different ideas.

On the other hand, the government had supports from various sources ranging from India, Pakistan, China, Russia, Israel and Russia.

This reminds me of our bitter past with bomb blasts in the country a decade back.
During 90s, as kids we would wake up to go to School in the morning only to hear a sad news of a bomb blast the previous night at some place in the country. It could have been anywhere ranging from public busses, train station, shopping malls, banks, political gathering etc... and anyone could have died regardless of their race or religion including Tamils (except those living within LTTE territory as they don't cross the border).
Then there will be island wide curfew, and shortly the police will round up at each and every Tamilian's house including ours to search.
They will send the adults away, and keep the children inside the house while doing the search everywhere. Think about the mind-set of the parents who would be waiting outside - proving their identity documents at the nearby check points, while thinking about their possessions (money, jewels etc) and their young kids in the hands of some unknown military men. Those were the dark eras that every Sri Lankans wants to forget.

Those were the times when we didn't have mobile phone or internet. So, upon hearing about a bomb blast at a certain place, we struggle in pain without knowing what happened to our loved ones who traveled that day/that place until they reach back home. The fear is not just them getting caught in the bomb blast, but also the chances of getting arrested and detained out of suspicion for being Tamils.
Can't blame the Government though. Because some Tamils assisted LTTE to committed such heinous crimes on public. So, the government was after the Tamil families with suspicion.

This is what Muralitharan in one of his interview mentioned that he felt relived after 2009, because as a Tamilian living in the main land, he and his family had to go through a lot of stress because of this 30 years of war. So, he felt relieved, and hopeful that his kid may enjoy peace after the end of war.
This is the mind voice of EVERY SRILANKAN, including the TAMILs living here. No one wish for another war even in our wildest dream. We can't stand it anymore.

But our Indian Politicians and media has twisted Murali's speech as if he felt relived in 2009 upon the death of thousands of Tamils in the North. No human can feel happy about the death of another human. Even if he feels happy, he wouldn't openly say that.
Muralitharan being a Tamil can never be happy about the genocide, or the death of Tamils, but genuinely he may be happy about the end of the war just like many of us. That's why we took his message with the right spirit, but sadly Tamil Nadu media twisted it.
As I said earlier, we are very small in number. We can't voice against large number of ignorant people who blindly follow their selfish politicians; hence this thread.

Get your facts my dear. I beg you.
Who broke the ceasefire agreement? Who refuse the peace talks?
    Who wanted the war?
Just follow the right source of news rather than emotionally and blindly following just one sided media. This can take you nowhere, but lead this thread to some unwanted place.

I assume we have a very healthy discussion here. Except you and @chanchitra others seems to have an idea of what has happened in general. They seem to realize or at least seem to have read/followed the news well.

Looks like you are a die hard follower of Seeman. He desperately tries to win Tamil people's heart to become the next Prabhakaran.
In fact, we sri lankans jokingly say Seeman is the Prime Minister of future Tamil Eazham.
But now I understand, how much he must have influenced a few people like you.... Could you kindly start a different thread if your idea is to spread seemanism? Because it is diverting this healthy thread. Sorry!

    @stayblessed

I think you live in a bubble.... you seem to read only certain sources and chose to live partially blinded for convenience. That is not right.

You will even change your user name if you read the media (different from what you chose to read) about what's happening in India. It is worst in many parts, including Kashmir and Assam and others, leave alone the ethnic, religious, caste related crimes. If you think injustice is a reasonable reason for an armed conflict and to fight for separate country, then India will be into multiple pieces by now. Period.
