We hear a lot of bad stuff happening to people, especially Ladies.

Even USA has increased crime rates. Some states no longer require criminals to post bail because they are trusted to return to Court after their arrest.

My citizen's app has gone crazy, reporting more crimes nearby than last year at this time. I had to remove the app because it was draining my phone's battery!

How do you make sure you are NOT a victim of a crime.

I've watched Crime Patrol, but 99% of the time the victim opens the door to their house without seeing who it is.

Or if there is a kidnapping, the traditional grandmother says the wild daughter is at her friends house and are too embarassed to go to police station.

Now there was a report of a terrible attack, PA grandmother blind after stranger throws acid on her in attack - TheGrio

How to stay safe other than being cooped up at home?

We come on IL to complain about H, MIL, SIL, BIL, PIL, neighbors, co-workers, playground bullies - they hurt our egos and our pocketbooks.

What about criminals in our streets who injure, maim and kill? We cannot stay cooped up at home forever, especially for those who need to work, run errands, etc.

I wish there is a way we can teach each other to be aware. Some personal security experts understand body-language of a criminal about to attack. How do we learn this?

You can take a self-defense class like Krav Maga.

@MalStrom I am checking Krav Maga. The physical maneuvers look intersting. I am concerned about my limited physical capacity (i.e. I have congenital weak knees, Dr advised life-long exercise to avoid surgery).

What classes focus on less physiacal, i.e. situational awareness, avoidance, how to report crime in progress on phone.

Krav Maga says that physical altercation is last resort. As a beginner I am looking for something more of Personal Physical Security.

For example, a Crime Patrol episode showed a girl's family being threatened. The girl took out her phone and live-streamed the threat, telling the killers to go ahead and kill her, while being livestreamed. The intruders left the house. Of course this is just a show, and in real life the criminals might have been dumb enough to kill the girl while being filmed in real time.

I hope I am expressing properly.

One more thing. If women are taking these classes, surely would-be criminals are doing the same. In this website, Women Defense Against Assault it says

    #########
For hand to hand self defense, the most efficient places to strike an attacker are the temple, eyes, jaw, nose, throat, neck, solar plexus, liver, ribs, groin, shins, knees, and feet.
    #########

What happens if the attacker is wearing a cup, to protect his groin.

Physical self-defense is a layer of security, but there needs to be other layers of defense.

Some may say women should not live alone, but even married women have been targeted for attacks, Women Defense Against Assault

    #########
Over on the West Coast in California, a serial rapist and killer known as the “Golden State Killer and East Area Rapist” named Joseph DeAngelo, who was a police officer, terrorized Sacramento California from 1975 to 1986 - raping 50 women and killing 13 women. Joseph targeted married women living in middle-class neighborhoods at night. Joseph performed research of the victims beforehand by peeping thru windows before entering homes unnoticed to unlock windows, unload guns, plant weapons for his later use, and call women to understand their daily routines.
