it is depends upon on the team. and line of business

my code commits are late night sometimes. then addressed to QA in google chat after that. and sometimes questions to business too.

so software development no one cares, as long the sprint tickets are moving in pace.

but the team has a strong rule, unless really necessary or production deployment it will not be forced response and reply.

I think adding a note saying: "Sending this email off-hours while I am catching up on things, feel free to read during regular hours tomorrow" (Wording is not perfect, need to work on the wording), may be a good idea. It may be redundant but making it clear.
These days email apps also allow emails to be drafted at night, but scheduled to be sent at 8am next day? May be the best option.

NBD as long as an immediate reply is not expected. My boss and team members send each other emails at any hour when a thought pops into our heads. We reply at our convenience outside business hours. If we need anything answered urgently then we text.

I often do. I am in Asia and work with counterparts in Europe and US , so I do like checking emails and sending out after my office hours because I can get a faster response.
But my boss sometimes is not happy - he doesnt like me working after office hours unless it is urgent. I on the other hand like working at late night, so I only send emails when he is not in copy , haha

PS- You have such a curious mind , are you in reality a cat :D

For a spiritual guidance on the late night work related email matter, refer to B.Gita 2:47
Refer to the english explanation at the bottom of screen. Email writer need not feel guilty for the effects the mail may have on its recipient.

even if the sender doesn't expect a response it does creates and unnecessary urge in receiver to respond it urgently.

my take would be to keep such occurrence rare( day full of meeting ) kind of things but make it clear in the email the xepacatation from it.

    if t
its anyways not urgent it can wait till morning dear :)

why give your personal time in responding emails? use it for insta instead! :p

Some in my office use delay delivery option so that mail is triggered at night times. Read our boss was in different country and they want to show they worked late night. Similarly it happens on weekends too. We all know when we receive consecutive three mails of 1200 characters whether it's a normal mail or delay delivery tactics.
These days due to lockdown we get mails often at late night may be few are comfortable working only when kids are settled.
Sometimes when you are awaiting for someones input to start your work on, message at late night is welcome too.
Personally I don't consider it rude on the senders part or reflects poorly on management skills..show off may be..trying to impress others may be...

:hello:Given the same time zone and age of the participants there can’t be an omnibus answer to your (dubious) query.

With advent of gadgets and satellite channels everyone awake till eleven easily and depending on the age group many would be happily answering e mails and texting messages.

E mails are seen only when the other person is awake and working on with laptop or any other gadget.

My son would tell me if some article or complaint to local press to be sent for immediate attention and or consideration it should be sent only late night so that during commencement of office in the morning, it will appear and seen by the editor staff at the top in inbox of recipient ‘s system .

(Now it is 5pm here I post. some one in USA west or east coast would see it is 7 or 7.30. Am. When my posts are seen and responded from a different time zone I see the corresponding IST and it is a delight to get so many alerts originated from the other side of the globe.)
    Thanks and Regards.

We send emails/ text/ SLACK message whenever a thought pops up. I might forget to let my team know by the morning so midnight email is just fine.

Important emails go out with high priority sign so everyone knows this needs an immediate response and rest is as you get time or no response needed.

I work with people in pretty much every time zone. Australia is usually the hardest to keep track of. By the time I get up and check my emails in the morning, I have plenty from east coast and European colleagues.
