    :hello:@Srama
Kudos to your jottings on Sanskrit tuition master and rediscovering him after three decades and a half and as a sequel narration of the emotional ecstasy that you have had.

    2. The knowing of longing of the teacher to know welfare of his pupil or sishya after so many years of separation is more of a delectable joy. I loved the narration with its nuances.

    3. I remember my Sanskrit teacher at my school and other day I met his son who looked exactly like his dad. I mistook him for my teacher whence he said his dad reached lotus feet of Lord few years ago.

    4. With a tuft of hair and dangling diamond studs ear lobes, clad dhoti in divided style sporting y-type Iyengar religious symbol, my Sanskrit master came infront of my eyes welled up as I read the opening para of your post.

    5. I was reminded of byhearting subashdhani and sabdam in his class only by listening to other pupils in the class telling it one by one.

    6. The humour in Sanskrit class comes to mind narrated in
Humour Sanskrit, Dad, & Mom And School Last Bench

    7. Kashtath agnihi jayathey madhyamanath bhumisthoyam
    Ganyamana Dhadhathi

This slogam taught in the class by thiruvazhai ayengar- still I remember said to have been authored by Guru Adhi Sankara.
I am not sure I reproduced it properly here but it conveys:
The more the logs gets dried up the more easily it catches fire and burn without smoke
The more deeper and deeper one go into the earth to get glittering diamond..
and then rest of the lines says the more one uses and hones up the brain the better it thinks.

    Thanks and Regards

    Dear JS Ma'm,

This indeed is a pleasure to get a response from you.
I am touched that the snippet moved you. It indeed is a matter pleasure for teachers when students work surpasses thier teaching. It takes a gifted teacher to not only identify students but enjoy the work students produce and cherish all that. Your father certainly was that teacher seems like. Only after talking with him did I realize how much he also values us - that meant a lot to me. Thank you.

    Dear @Thyagarajan sir,

Thank you for your warm feed back. I do remember reading your snippet. We revisit :) Thank fully for me Sanskrit was not another language - it was more than that. All that learning helped me in high school and later on in college as I continued to take Sanskrit as my first language. Incidentally, my best friend also came into my life because of Sanskrit.

Thank you for sharing that lovely Adi Shankaras verse. Appreciate your feedback.

    Dear Sabitha,

It is amazing to know the impact your Sanskrit teacher created in two summers. It is interesting that the teachers who teach us at an early age have more impact on us than the teachers who teach at a later stage. Thank you for sharing your feelings about your interaction with him after a long time. I found this snippet of yours a little different from other snippets. It brought back Sabitha who was totally indulged in the beauty of everything she sees around into the world of recollection.

    Dear V sir,

It is always a pleasure to get your response. You know I debated quite a bit whether to post this snippet or not, since it is so personal but I just had to share my joy :) You are right about teachers from our younger days making an impact - I think we realize this only later. I do have the fortune of a Math teacher who influenced me quite a bit in the same town and as I reflected back after reading you, I realized today I teach some Sanskrit and a lot of Math. Though I teach all subjects at school, I am more known for my Math classes making a difference to students and Sanskrit helps me making a difference to me. How strange! Now, i am glad I wrote this. It helped me sort our quite a bit. Thank you sir!

    Dearest Sabitha

What a glorious ready on the love between Guru and Shishya. I truly brought back memories of gurus I was blessed with. Every time I visit Srilanka, I do visit teachers who have impacted and guided me in a special way. Till to date I wonder and think why my kids are not particularly connected and faithful to their teachers as we used to. Perhaps they will be connected to their football coaches, I wonder?

I am truly glad that you have found him so was him. He is going to carry a big smile at least for next few days thinking of you and your sister.

Have a lovely day and love from,
    Vani

    Dear Vani,

So so nice to get a response from you. Thank you for stopping by :) It is amazing how so many teachers have made sucha huge difference on our lives. We are lucky indeed.

I do wonder about our kids but Ithink it is only in retrospect they will realize about the teachers who impacted them like I did so late in life. As long as they can.....as far as as those coaches, they are held on a pedestal certainly and I am sure many of the children look to them as mentors as well. As long as they have the support....I think it is okay whether coaches or teachers!

And oh! I am sure his famliy will be wondering about us and will be eager to meet us as well and he certainly is not the kind of person who will hide his happiness/eagerness or affection! I hope to meet him as soon as I can!

:hello:Today morning as warming milk risen to form canopy of slate over the brim touching the handle of ss ladle, I was reminded of your blog and sanskrit.

Then in a rush, I remembered a subashidam about Nature of profound friendship.

One might have noticed their mother or gr.mother sprinkling water when the boiling milk about to over flow to contain it. This reason is given by sanskrit subhash itam .

Milk imparts its inherent qualities like sweetness to its constituent water. When it is boiled, the water on having seen the milk in distress immediately sacrifices itself to the fire (and evaporates). The milk in turn becomes eager to throw itself into the fire (by boiling over) on seeing the plight of its friend water. However, it settles down when some water is poured. Such is the nature of friendship of the virtuous.

This is so sweet and awesome @Thyagarajan sir. I am touched that the blog came to your mind early in the morning. Appreciate it. Also thank you for sharing the shubhashitham - it will help me. I am collecting shubhashithams for a purpose and this will help.
